My New Aerus Vacuums - Part 3

Does the new & revised Platinum have the bag tube seal like the other Lux vacuums? Or does the improved Platinum leak dust from the bag like the first Platinums did?

Bag tube gasket

I was refering to this gasket shown here

Has anyone installed the gasket on the first Platinums or just operate the earlier Platinum without the gasket?

This is my Electrolux Epic 6500SR (C102D) with the bag tube gasket[this post was last edited: 11/24/2013-21:19]

Yay my Guardian Platinum has finally arrived. I've been following the tracking and I knew it was close by on Mon. but weather hampered it being delivered. It was supposed to arrive yesterday but did not. I stopped at the post office on the way home and it still was not there (FedEx passed it on to Canada Post for final delivery because there is no FedEx office in this area). Needless to say I was disappointed. Then 15 min. before the post office closed, the postmaster called me to say it had arrived! It had gone to the wrong town! Anyway it is here and I am thrilled with it. I gave it a short workout and all the good things that everyone has said about it are absolutely true....love love love it! It is so quiet compared to the 6500 and 9000 models that I previously owned. And it does have a lot of power. I used the auto setting and it stayed on level 4. I vacuumed the carpet, floors and stairs. With the power nozzle running I could barely hear the main unit. The Sidekick III is amazing - so much better than the previous models. I could actual see it lifting up the carpet on the stairs. One thing that surprised me is that the machine does NOT shut off when I opened the bag door. I even removed the bag and it kept on running. I think that is a bit of a step backwards compared to previous Lux's. It would be nice also if there was a light to indicate when it is plugged it. The only other thing I would change is to make the hose about 1 foot longer. Oh and it is so light compared to the 6500 and 9000 models.

And now for the pics.

My New Aerus vacuums- part 3

Gary,
Thanks so much for posting all the pictures and the box. It is really a good looking machine. Keep us posted after you have used it few times and the new improvements.

Looks great Gary, happy you finally got it. Looks great.
I don't care for that part about the motor running either with the bag door open. It still has the protection thing though that you can't shut the door if there is no bag. So I guess it still has that protection

Thanks. I don't understand the reasoning behind allowing to vac to run when the bag door is open. On all the lux's I've owned they would not run with the door open so I don't understand why they would take that safeguard away.

Thanks for the photos countryguy. That is the best looking Lux since the Silverado. That stainless steel really shines like silver. I'm glad they reduced the sound of the power nozzle. Any of you Youtubers gonna post a video so we can hear it and see it in action?

I think a question that was asked got lost

That Picture above of the rubber gasket on the door.......does the new Lux have that gasket?

Mark

The new platinum does not have it. Asked my lux guy about that the other day when he dropped me off a new supply of bags. He said he never noticed that before and was going to check into for me.
Since the new bags came out, I haven t had any problem with dust leaking but having the gasket is a good extra feature.
