Mark,
I agree with you about the Panasonic Vs Electrolux. It pains me to say but I do like several things about the Panasonic better. First would be the hand grip and off/on controls.
The Panasonic has a much smaller hand grip (somewhat like the Rainbow) compared to the larger and bulky handle on our Lux. Also I really like the simple thumb slide suction control where the Lux has screw set set up under the hose handle.
I like having the off/on-brush and vac control right under your finger where the Lux has the brush control on the power nozzle and step on switch on the machine.
Mark,
I think the power nozzle does a better job on my cut pie carpeting upstairs than our Lux. I like to have the height adjustment.
I also think it moves easier with the large wheels at the rear of the machine vs our Lux where the wheels are small and further up on the machine.
The swivel hose connection makes for an easy 180 turn around of the cleaner on the thick carpet. The longer electric cord helps too. When using the Lux upstairs I had to stop and re plug several times. I like the step on cord rewind vs the window shade action of our Lux.
So you are right. It is a hard toss up. I like them both. I would imagine the Lux to be more durable but it cost 4 times as much so it should last a lot longer.
I think they both clean well but I am tempted to like to use the Panasonic better with it's user friendly features and it is just fun to use. Time will tell.
Thanks Daniel. That is a great improvement. I always have my ear buds in when I clean the house. Don't hear the main machine at all, but I do hear the power nozzle.
The Aerus website had that power nozzle pictured pretty much from the beginning. I had often wondered why the discrepancy in the selfie pictures people were posting and the picture on the website. I guess they didn't expect that first iteration to last long. They must have known what the new one would look like pretty quickly. I wonder why the website doesn't trumpet the sound reduction feature. I never found Lux power nozzles "noisy" personally. I find Riccar power nozzles the worst. The ones I've heard sound grate like a weed whacker or a chainsaw. A Lux nozzle made a louder noise than some, but it wasn't an unpleasant sound to me. It had a singing hum quality that made it far more tolerable than the most others. I wish someone would post a video of it. I can't wait to hear it.
