I got a new Machine not just the Power-nozzle, i now have 2 Guardian Platinum, i had 2 but they were both original so i Traded one and got this new one! i still have my original i bought! and traded one i got from a friend! now have this one, here is a pic of the power nozzles side by side, and dan the brush roll is still the same just the cogg on the pn motor is is bigger and makes it sound different Motor looks the same other than that!
Mark,
I agree with you about the Panasonic Vs Electrolux. It pains me to say but I do like several things about the Panasonic better. First would be the hand grip and off/on controls.
The Panasonic has a much smaller hand grip (somewhat like the Rainbow) compared to the larger and bulky handle on our Lux. Also I really like the simple thumb slide suction control where the Lux has screw set set up under the hose handle.
I like having the off/on-brush and vac control right under your finger where the Lux has the brush control on the power nozzle and step on switch on the machine.
Mark,
I think the power nozzle does a better job on my cut pie carpeting upstairs than our Lux. I like to have the height adjustment.
I also think it moves easier with the large wheels at the rear of the machine vs our Lux where the wheels are small and further up on the machine.
The swivel hose connection makes for an easy 180 turn around of the cleaner on the thick carpet. The longer electric cord helps too. When using the Lux upstairs I had to stop and re plug several times. I like the step on cord rewind vs the window shade action of our Lux.
So you are right. It is a hard toss up. I like them both. I would imagine the Lux to be more durable but it cost 4 times as much so it should last a lot longer.
I think they both clean well but I am tempted to like to use the Panasonic better with it's user friendly features and it is just fun to use. Time will tell.
Thanks Daniel. That is a great improvement. I always have my ear buds in when I clean the house. Don't hear the main machine at all, but I do hear the power nozzle.
The Aerus website had that power nozzle pictured pretty much from the beginning. I had often wondered why the discrepancy in the selfie pictures people were posting and the picture on the website. I guess they didn't expect that first iteration to last long. They must have known what the new one would look like pretty quickly. I wonder why the website doesn't trumpet the sound reduction feature. I never found Lux power nozzles "noisy" personally. I find Riccar power nozzles the worst. The ones I've heard sound grate like a weed whacker or a chainsaw. A Lux nozzle made a louder noise than some, but it wasn't an unpleasant sound to me. It had a singing hum quality that made it far more tolerable than the most others. I wish someone would post a video of it. I can't wait to hear it.
Does the new & revised Platinum have the bag tube seal like the other Lux vacuums? Or does the improved Platinum leak dust from the bag like the first Platinums did?
The newest Platinum Guardians have been modified so that the power nozzle turns off when the main unit is shut off. Also the bags have been modified so that there is no more leakage. I'll be able to confirm both when I get my new Platinum this week.
Yay my Guardian Platinum has finally arrived. I've been following the tracking and I knew it was close by on Mon. but weather hampered it being delivered. It was supposed to arrive yesterday but did not. I stopped at the post office on the way home and it still was not there (FedEx passed it on to Canada Post for final delivery because there is no FedEx office in this area). Needless to say I was disappointed. Then 15 min. before the post office closed, the postmaster called me to say it had arrived! It had gone to the wrong town! Anyway it is here and I am thrilled with it. I gave it a short workout and all the good things that everyone has said about it are absolutely true....love love love it! It is so quiet compared to the 6500 and 9000 models that I previously owned. And it does have a lot of power. I used the auto setting and it stayed on level 4. I vacuumed the carpet, floors and stairs. With the power nozzle running I could barely hear the main unit. The Sidekick III is amazing - so much better than the previous models. I could actual see it lifting up the carpet on the stairs. One thing that surprised me is that the machine does NOT shut off when I opened the bag door. I even removed the bag and it kept on running. I think that is a bit of a step backwards compared to previous Lux's. It would be nice also if there was a light to indicate when it is plugged it. The only other thing I would change is to make the hose about 1 foot longer. Oh and it is so light compared to the 6500 and 9000 models.
Gary,
Thanks so much for posting all the pictures and the box. It is really a good looking machine. Keep us posted after you have used it few times and the new improvements.
