Mini-meet my place Sunday Apr 5th

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Pete, now you are just trying to make us feel even worse since we can't be there.LOL You have to do this again with more advance warming. What is your closest airport there? I know you all will have a fantastic time!! Terry

Detroit is the closest....have to remember that as of June 1st 2009 the US government requires all persons, including US citizens to have a passport to enter or re-enter the USA or another acceptable piece of identification such as a Nexus card. No more drivers licenses or birth certificates for Americans/Canadians travelling back and forth either I got the Nexus card it's only $50 and cheaper than a passport and it lets you bypass all the lineups and customs examinations which even a passport doesn't. Course you have to agree to a thorough investigation by the US and Canada Customs, fingerprinting, photo id'ing, retina scans to get one but it's worth it for the convenience. Especially when like me you live right on the border and go back and forth all the time.

On hoses and other ephmera

My hose.....

Well My hose, the one to the MobileAire happens to be in Lansing in dry storage at the present time. Unfortunately I guess I spoke too quickly, as It's nowhere near me, and I won't have time to get it before I come.

I'm intrigued as to the V8 slap. Sounds very powerful and kinda fun....LOL

Chad

P.S. I've decided to bring my Regina Canister, The Eureka RotoMatic Canned Ham, it's sister upright Cordaway, and maybe the Singer Golden PowerMaster And The 1970's Premier Cord Reel Upright. That should add to what You have and what Dave is bringing.

Who else will be there? I mean Rusty Andres is coming up with me, and then you and Dave... Anyone else gonna make it? Would be nice to meet anyone else who happens to come. Course us four will have a fun time regardless.

Pete!!!!

GREAT NEWS!!!!!I'll be there!!!!Turns out that a crew of construction workers had to change a flat tire here in Snellville, and they are heading to Detroit. They asked directions to I-75 and well, things just kinda worked out! We're leaving right now. Driving all night! There's fifteen of us and I said that there would be plenty of room for us to sorta camp out in one of the vac rooms. They don't start work 'til Tuesday, I hope you don't mind, I had to act fast - or miss the ride. I'm brinin' my helmet. You can give me a ride on your bike!

They did ask if there was more than one bathroom. They haven't showered since they left Florida yesterday, and it's rained some. The back of the truck is covered, but rain still gets in. It was more important to keep the tools dry then people. They hope they can use your garage, just for a few things.

One of them (I haven't learned their names yet)wants to know if you've got a propane hook-up? He's on a special diet and cooks his own food. He's got the stove - so he won't be too much trouble.

Can't wait to get there!

Rick

Oh man Rick. When Pete sees that he's gonna need a new nappy...

You are funny as heck!!! It's not even my place and I felt like I was gonna hurl for a minute....LMAO

Chad

So Rick I hope that you told them that they should have stopped here in Ruskin and picked me up before heading your way. I know that Pete wouldn't mind one more!!! Damn, I always miss all the fun!!!!
Terry

Well I'm glad I got my new queen sized Sealy pillow-top. I'll break my cardinal rule about always sleeping alone and let both you guys share it with me. That's the kinda guy I am, always putting others above myself and my own needs.

Oh dear, where's my hankie I'm getting all welled up and teary just thinking about my sacrifices.

Pete
Sure wish I could make it up there. It would not be that far from Col. O. I had a little mini meet here with Jeff Schoff,
Jim and a friend. Last Sat. We had a good visit, and played with some of my 60 vacs. I've been waiting for Jeff to post
pictures so we tell some of the stories.
I invited David Lovey (dirtfinder) from Grove City (burb of
columbus) but he was with his family in Dayton, As he had
some medical issues to deal with. Need be in touch with him
again.
Have a heap of fun, I know you will.

Opening soon! WEBS!!!

"They came from the Pond"

And don't you believe those PC soft-pedaling disclaimers of harmless benign Swan behaviour. Swans are just pretty chickens when ya get down to it. Dumb as rocks. Never mind the swan's safety - watch your own children, pets and ankles!

But they are mighty pretty as long as they stay in the water. They don't walk so good and sometimes fall over; I've seen a few take a tumble as they waddle the downhill incline to the Lake during the Parade.

All loaded, and ready to float up to Sarnia.....

Well,

I packed the cavernous maw of a trunk of the Grand Marquis with goodies to bring to the meet. I listed a few above, and one more that screamed TAKE ME TOO!!!!

That said, I plan to be over to Rusty's house by 9:00 am, and that means traffic and weather permitting we should be coming to your door around 10:30 or 11:00. We will prolly have to make a pit stop or two, but we will be taking the route you described before. Because of reasons that I'm unsure of, your final directions went missing, so after we hit the exit after the bridge I will give you a call to flag us in. I'm pretty damned good at doing things by sight, but will call you anyway so I don't end up in Stratford on accident.

Look forward to seeing everyone who's coming tomorrow. I have the camera charged up and ready to snap off lots of photo's of us enjoying our meet!!!

Chad

Wow, I wish I Could Make It!!

But it's just not possible right now, and I doubt if I'll be going to the convention this year, either. We had a great time at our mini-meet last week and I'm sure you will, too. Mini-meets are always fun! And be sure to post plenty of pics and keep the rest of us informed!
Jeff

Me & the boys.....

can't find your house! I think you gave me the wrong address. Terry is so disappointed! He came across twelve NIB Hoover model O's and now has no one to give them to. Such a shame...we sang 99 bottles of beer on the wall 42 times.

Rick

gad I thought they'd never leave but I finally ushered Davey out the door!!!!
As promised some pics I took but Chad and Dave took plenty more, maybe even some moving pics and talkies
Not soon after arriving I kicked them all out to go junking at my favorite little place in Petrolia to see what they could find and they returned with a heap of junk strewn all across my driveway. Chad apparently found a sought after Black and Decker vac.. haven't got the picture but Dave said he was on cloud nine when he spotted it in the pile from 2000 yards.
Here's returning from the junkporium and bringing in all the vacs Chad brought out of his trunk.

Some of the vacs in front that Chad brought and all that stuff in the background was found at the junkporium, Dave got an RCA record player and someones old 8mm home movies and an old Eureka that Rusty spotted hidden in more junk.
