VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Chads found himself this B&d vac,,Dave got an old Hoover dustette, record player, home movies, some irons, some FQ parts and Rusty found some reamers to fit on his Hamilton Beach mixer juicer attachment.

Dave showing off his extra long hose. BTW that little Royal was the strongest sucker off all the vacs we tested pulling well over 100 on the suck-o-meter. Dave recorded all the figures and will be posting them later.

Chad almost fainted when his Regina hit 3 digits as well. He's gonna take better care of it now.

The day shot by so fast we never really even got around to many of the vacs, none of mine that were downstairs. It was only before Dave was leaving that I grabbed his Hoover Floor washer to give it a go before it went.

The Fearless Foursome.

89 minutes from driveway to driveway - I pulled in at 9:56PM. Car still packed til tomorrow or until the arriving 3 day snowstorm ends...

There was no one on the road ahead of me all the way back - I guess everyone else was speeding. :-) I set the cruise control at 69 MPH (except for the small towns of course).

With both our cars mistly packed up with treasures we remembered to get the Attendee Group Shot. I'll post as many additional pics as I can before bedtime.

Pete Floorwashermaning

I'm so stricken with Floor Washer Fever I just had to bring it along. The blue is the original issue color for 1959 and this one has a low serial number at 4,936. The yellow ones came later and one of mine has Serial No. 125,633. Thanks again, Brian!

Pete's kitchen floor being so surgically clean, using clear warm water it's not easy to see the floor getting wet as you stroke but then the light catches it and you realize it is and you're brush mopping. Then ya click that lever and the dang thing starts sucking up all the 'dirty' water on the forward stroke, drying the floor with warm exhaust. I think - or imagined - I heard Pete say he wouldn't mind having one someday...

The Skylon Warthog in all it's intended glory.

The bulb over my head blazed to life last night as I recalled that Compact exhaust ports are cast in vertical and Tristars are angled. I brought along a blue Compact to demonstrate.

So, the soaring scenic Warthog Niagara SKYLON afterfilter is meant to tower above the Compact in an upright position - not lean over sideways - while the Filter Fresh puck piggybacks on the Tristar.

Dashed over to Petrolia Junque-torium as Pete suggested. After trolling the main building and hauling out to the car I suggested we drive 'round the back to the open air shed stalls. As we came through the gate Chad began to tremble and make squeaky noises. He drove right across the yard and was practically out of the car before it stopped. LOL What an eye he has!

These back sheds are open to the elements year 'round without any tarp protection. It's out here I found my yellow Eureka chrome dome Roto-matic two years ago. This Black & Decker vacuum has been out here all the years I've been dropping by. Pete says at least 5 years!

Just waiting patiently for Chad to Whoop, Swoop & Scoop to it's rescue...

Meanwhile over on the other side of the yard Rusty is busy extracting something from a pile...whatever it was he put it back as Chad & I hustled over, me zeroing in on the Tristar PN behind him.

Wow Pete, like Rick said we just couldn't find your house, could be the fact that as we were singing 99 bottles of beer, some of us drank a few as well.LOL Rick you must be mistaken, you never told me this was a surprise!!! Pete you are so so sweet, I am sure that we would have had a wonderful time!!!
Guys it sure looks like you all had fun and found some wonderful treasures to bring home. Aren't mini meets and gatherings so much fun. I hope that one of you will write something up and send it along with pictures for Fred to use in the next newsletter.

Here we three pose with the back 40 treasures - this after w

No sign of the Tristar but then I had brought my newest mottled silver one along. This PN is in better shape than the one I brought!

Time to head back to Sarnia and Casa Pete. This wonderful side trip took all of 90 minutes - we were back just before 3PM hyperventilated and hungry. Chad had not yet emptied his cavernous trunk of the vacs he brought to show but we managed to get everything in on top, around and beside. Rusty was quite accommodating, gracefully sharing the back seat with my stuff.

Rick, not to worry about those NIB Hoover Model O's I'll share with you and we can build up our retirement fund!!LOL

The Petrolia Haul Garage Door Glamour Shot, not to be confused with items we all brought to show in our trunks. :-)

First thing Rusty found in ther front yard as we arrived was the Blue Eureka upright...hidden under a tarp. I had to have it, along with the complete Hoover hose, wand and tool set in pale brown, all those flatirons with cords, the films, record case stuffed with 45s and RCA Victor record player, the Filter Queen bucket & base, box with Electrolux triple polisher pads & brushes, a bunch of assorted vacuum nozzles & accessories and a very cute halfsized Fuller floor/carpet sweeper.

Chad could not stop chuckling as he mentally inventoried all the dark gray accessories and tools back in Ann Arbor to compliment the new Black & Decker.
