Argos now bringing in the new EU regs machines.

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Steve has a habit of doing that any way - goes on specs and when someone doesn't agree with him he has a temper tantrum and blocks everyone that doesn't agree with him. You wouldn't think he was an adult the way he goes on.

Then re-edits the posts to make himself look better. It really doesn't push me to pay for upgraded membership on here. Poor little soul...

your point about the legislation making things better

Well, I wouldn't say it WILL make things better. At this stage, we just don't know. And that's what's exciting. Can you imagine Rob, at a meet next year when we have all these new cleaners to try?

There hasn't been a market shake up like this in 20 years. I'm very eagerly anticipating the introduction of the new cleaners, and watching how the market changes and adapats around the new legislation over the next few years.

Just because the source of the legislation is the EU, doesn't make it bad for the UK, regardless of your political view.

Then re-edits the posts to make himself look better

Oh look, he's already started.

As for the Facebook group, having been a member of it since day 1, I can only recall one incident of someone being removed, and that was for a good reason. I'd also like to point out that Rob did not create the Facebook group, and it's moderated by 3 different people.

Sorry to piss all over your point, Steve...again...

Chris

Given 25 people were standing in our workshop 2 weeks ago using an eco henry alongside other vintage and newer high power vacs 'EXPERIENCING' and 'AGREEING' first hand that high wattage means nothing Im more inclined to dismiss 'Steve Jones' views given his is the only view as such in such a critically viewed circle.

Yes I cant wait for next years big meet where we will hopefully have a good selection of low wattage cleaners to compare.

Yeah, OK sebo_fan, whatever. Oh, and regarding the blocking function - I only usually block those who are very rude to me. The blocking posts function is there, as is the editing feature for upgraded members, and its my right to use it, as it is everyone else's. Chris and Rob have ruined my thread again, which is why I have taken that action.

Someones mis informed.

Sure ive removed a few numpties along the way - a moderator does that.

Only thing is you heard one side of the story.

Just like your seeing one side of the story with low wattage vacs.

However being a mod there means I dont have to explain myself to anyone least not of all you.

We all know why you're doing that, don't we?

Please don't throw stones in glass houses, Steve.

You'll have to fill me in regarding why you think I am doing that - Its not as if ALL the members on there have left VCCL. I believe some of them visit a lot of the posts and still contribute on here.

As usual, it isn't quite true what you are saying. You are inferring that others have left here, that I am "poaching" members, which means they would have to be LEAVE here COMPLETELY when in reality they haven't.

I don't keep suggesting members leave VL to join the "FB" group do I sebo_fan. You want to try to kill off UK participation on VL - that's how it seems to me, or else you wouldn't keep suggesting how wonderful this "FB" group is to people. Roger was the last one you attempted to recruit, you tried to get Olly, madaboutsebo, and others, and now they hardly post here. Interesting you always email them the details of the FB group, rather than post the link in posts, almost as if you didn't want me to find out about the group details.

Not as white as you make out, Steve.

Steve - I still have the rude messages you sent to me - and I have already screenshot this conversation before and after your edits.

I haven't blocked you (btw you dont need to be a member to have that a feature) but at the same time, its about time you realised that you are not on your own in this forum and that you are not the voice of experience where UK collectors are concerned.

Isn't it about time you apologised to everyone on here that you have upset? Instead you seem to be displaying certain characteristics of a slight sleazy nature siding with the younger members on here.

Rude messages - and I still mean them - and they were sent due to your own behaviour toward me. I will not apologise to members who deliberately post against me and attempt to belittle me in public. By implying I am a paedophile is a very serious implication sebo_fan, as I'm sure you know.

Guy's...

... please, I know this is going to sound daft but please behave yourself!

From what I am aware this forum is a brilliant place for vacuum collectors, but recently I have noticed - and I assume some others have as well - that there has been an increase in verbal conflict through SOME of the posts.

I don't want to side with anyone on this, and I know that this is ironic from a young collector, but please, try to be nice to one another. There aren't that many people in the world with the same hobbies as all of us, so we should all try to appreciate who each other are, and our alike-ness, even if we have different opinions on one another, which some of us do, just for the sake of the vacuums in our spare rooms, loft's, garages or wherever you keep yours, try to get along, as from what I have read most of you seem to be a nice bunch.

Thanks

P.S: Webmaster, sorry if my post seems a bit forward, but i'm trying to restore peace to this nice and helpful website.

There was no verbal abuse before Turbo500 came on and deliberately attempted to cause another argument. Rob then came on and sided with Chris, as they are both members of the same Facebook Vacuum Collectors group. Nar has been deliberately trying to kill off participation of UK members on VL for a couple of months now. I am sick and tired of these 3 UK members constantly attacking me in posts and trying to cause friction. Once again, its the same 3 people (All members of Robs Facebook group for UK collectors) who have turned my thread into a vicious personal attack on me.

So what I am saying is that I don't set out to cause arguments - there was no bother at all with this thread before Chris had to come on with personal insults and criticisms directed at me, which he has done on numerous occasions, when all he had to do was hide my posts using the available feature. As I cannot private message Nar nor Rob Stubbs because they don't contribute towards their memberships, what choice do I have other than to respond in the forums, and when they have read what I said, I edit it out.

Joe, I completely agree and well said! But there's a limit as to how much people can take.

This thread is a prime example of MadAboutHoover's behaviour on this forum. Here, has made a very missinformed, uneducated assumption regarding the new low wattage vacuums that are about to hit the market based on his own political beliefs regarding the current UK pro/anti EU debate and not based on the cleaners themselves. He is also encouranging panic-buying high wattage cleaners.

When challenged on his view (and I don't think I was rude in doing so at all, at least it wasn't intended to be), he could offer no evidence to support his view or indeed any statement to back up his point, instead he resorted to turning this conversation into a rant against a Facebook group. At no point was there any "deliberate attempt to start an argument", I was challenging the views of another vacuum enthusiast, because I thought he was wrong - isn't that pretty much what happens in every thread?

Instead of blocking me and slagging of Nar, if Steve had been willing to contribute to some sort of discussion to establish how he has reached the view he has, this entire thread would never have happened, beyond about 3 posts.

This is just the latest in a long line of rubbish from the fingers of MadAboutHoovers. I can't think of anyone he hasn't pissed off. He talks about being belittled, and yet all he's done since joining VL is force his opinion on others, shouting the odds, making inappropriate comments, belittling the views of anyone who doesn't agree with him (regardless of who they are), name calling and starting petty arguments. Not to mention the constant post-editing in a desperate attempt to make himself look victimised. I can think of at least 4 people that screenshot his posts incase he edits them.

It's all getting a little bit ridiculous.

And since Steve has decided to go off on one yet again about the Facebook group, I'd like to point out a few facts:

- It isn't Rob's group. He is 1 of 3 moderators on it.
- A LOT of UK members here are on it - myself, Nar, Rob, Beko1987, Ry_Ry87, sensotronic, SeamusUK, Andy-Lux and indeed Joe (suctior) are all members, plus many others.
- there is absolutely NO vendetta for "poaching" members from here. 80% of members on the Facebook group are on and post on both sites.
- the Facebook group mostly exists between UK members that all know eachother and we use it mostly to arrange meets and trade/buy/rehome vacuums than anything else. There is a natural banter that goes with that.

Nice try but I still have screenshots from when you were rude to me in several threads, Steve and that was WELL BEFORE I JOINED ANY FACEBOOK GROUP.

I also have screenshots where you rallied around younger members on here when Lucy from Newoldcleaners had originally posted the thread about the original, brand new condition vacuums that were listed on here. You rallied around younger members on here to pressurize Lucy to cut the price down.

I am sick to the death of your constant lies, and constant errors in the posts that you contribute to. You do not relay experience but rather shoot from the hip.

Im tired of your false accusations and I am further sickened continually to be cut down by you and your insulting nature and obtuse comments in other threads. You've done that to me WELL BEFORE I had any involvement with anyone else outside this forum.

Grow up!

Well, sebo_fan, why don't you just simply go to my profile, then click on "hide this members posts" - and then you and I will never have to cross swords again. That's what the feature is there for. Oh, and perhaps you should stop keeping advertising Rob Stubbs' Facebook Group to UK members, and saying that  its "more personal than VL"  as that could be seen as troublemaking as well.
