Hi everyone! A few weeks ago was my husband's 50th birthday! On his birthday I made him replace the cord on my dear Sunbeam Mixmaster model 12 named "Beamy" so I could make him a cake with him! That little guy works like a charm!!! Beamy made a lovely cherry chip cake with cherry jello in it, cheesecake pudding layered on top of the cake, and cool whip layered on top of that! It was superb! On a side note, I'm pushing very close to 20 stand mixers now, it's getting a little out of hand! Ha ha! :) -Michelle

Why is it that I get this strong sense that you could have done the cord just as well Michelle? Just a feeling. Those are very happy sounding mixers, fun to use.

Thank you for the kind words! I had an idea of how to replace the cord. I wanted to watch how it was done so then I could do it confidently from now on. I love learning! He is a good little mixer! He's the first one that I didn't need to rebuild! Just needed a new cord and cake making can commence! Whoever owned him before me took very good care of him! He's in excellent shape! Most of the ones I have are in moderate to almost poor/tired shape that need to be taken apart and refurbished/painted. Thanks again! :) -Michelle

Sure thing! Basically you can use whatever kind of cake mix, Jell-O pudding, Jell-O gelatin, and cool whip you want! I change it up all the time! My husband said growing up as a little boy his mom use to make him a yellow cake with Jell-O in it and layered pudding and cool whip on top. I said I would make it for him, but I never made it the same way twice! Ha Ha! I use a 13 by 9 pan. Okay, I bought a Betty Crocker cake mix box called Cherry Chip. Cook the cake as the box tells you. Next, I used a Cherry Jell-O gelatin. Make the Jell-O as according to the package. Once it's made just set it aside on the counter, you don't want it to gel up! Then, I used the cheesecake Jell-O pudding. It's the 5 minute set up kind. Make it according to package and throw it in the fridge. When you're cake is done, let it stand until it is completely cool! Once cool, poke holes in the cake, I use a butter knife and do slits, doesn't really matter. After your hole poking is complete, I take a spoon and start drizzling the cherry Jell-O in the holes and onto the cake. I use about half of the mixture, the rest I put in the fridge to eat as Jell-O. After that I get my cheesecake pudding out of the fridge and get a spatula. Put the whole bowl of pudding onto the cake and spread it out like frosting. Lastly, get the tub of cool whip, I believe 8 oz., and put that on top of the pudding and slowly and gently spread that like frosting. That's the cake recipe! Thanks for wanting my recipe!!! Enjoy!!! :) -Michelle

Lovely, Michelle! A cake for every mixer, and a mixer for every cake!

Thanks Alex!!! I would love to use all of my mixers, but most of the stand mixers need TLC!!! Too many projects and not enough time! I just bought 2 more Sunbeam stand mixers in these past 2 weeks! I will list those as soon as I have a spare minute! I just got done rebuilding and hand polishing my GE hand mixer. He's the style like the Jetsons. You actually just got one of those recently! I'm trying to collect every color of them! So far I have a pink, turquoise, brown, and red one! The turquoise one came with the knife sharpener! Also, need to get the drink stirrer. I've always wanted a red one, never thought I would actually get one because of rarity, but I found one on Etsy mislabeled as a blender! Ha Ha! Sammy said the red one is his favorite! I will post pics of him as well when I get a chance! I would love to see that Dormeyer get a work out! Can't wait to see that little cutie! :) -Michelle

Hi there! Thank you! You've piqued my interest with the Hamilton Beach stand mixer!!! Please send me some pictures of it to my email and I will let you know if I'm interested in it or not. There are a few models Hamilton Beach made that I want to collect! Thanks! :) -Michelle

Me too, Michelle! Great minds think alike once more! So far I have the family-heirloom turquoise, and white and salmon colours! The last two are from a thrift shop, bought the same day, with my Dormeyer stand mixer and Waring Crest blender! Let me know if you want a picture!

I would love to see a pic of your mixer eye candy! Ha ha! I just counted all of them and I have 18 stand mixers and 13 hand mixers! I literally have 31 mixers that could be used everyday for a month and never be used twice! That's craziness! Oh well what are you gonna do about a lovely addiction! Ha ha! Speaking of, dear Beamy from up above just made a carrot cake! Once it's cool, I will use Whippy my little gold and black 70's General Electric to make the homemade cream cheese frosting! I don't know why, but I associate Whippy as the frosting maker! I still need to take pics of my newest and dearest vintage babies, hopefully very soon! For starters, I got a 1961 Sears Lady Kenmore sewing machine with matching desk and mid century chair for $5.00 at a garage sale. Got a 1936 Sunbeam Mixmaster model 3a at an antique shop for $48.00 that came with the original jadeite green juicer with reamer, bowl is jadeite too but not original it's for a Star Rite Magic Maid. Okay, and lastly I got a Sunbeam Mixmaster model 10 with original milk glass bowls for $25.00 at the local thrift store! I've been doing very well as of lately! Also, on the same day I got my model 10, we have friends that own an antique store and he flagged me down to look at some Electroluxs! How could I say no to that?!? So, I brought home an early 1205 for free!!! Then this past Monday, a few days back, Sammy's boss went to a junk yard/scrap yard and bought me a tan Electrolux model g!!! He's in poor shape, but will get him up and working! It's pretty cool to be associated apparently with Electrolux from other people! Now, do you know anything about the G's??? I don't! I do have a turquoise model g and he has a plug in on the front under the adjuster knob, but my tan g has the plug in on the side of his body by the front wheel. I'm not having much luck finding info on him anywhere! The tan guy is a taupe colored body, cream colored bumpers/cord/handle, and brown wheels. I don't even know what years they were made! I know this isn't the place to ask about vacs, but I'm pretty sure you would know!!! :) -Michelle

That Oreck could have been used to tidy up the driveway. IS that a Dyson tool I spied to the right??!! OH MY 👀 the things you see in pictures that your not supposed to see!! 😆
