Phyllis is just waiting with all the other projects we have to get to. This car thing fell in our lap, so now that takes top priority. I will take some pics of Phyllis this weekend and I will share them with you, so then at least you'll get to finally see what she looks like! I will do a thread then on my new old car named "Goldie"! :) -Michelle

But what if Mrs.Johnson's lovely new Sun-Dress gets ruined in the chlorine!? Her famous chocolate cake could get RUINED!!!!

First one to name the vintage mixer in the bottom right gets the first slice of cake!

I'm not much of a cake person anymore since someone told me something funny while eating it & I spewed it out & landed on some slob that was walking by..I do admit it did wonders for them, at least they had to shower or something similar to it, maybe they went through a car wash or something...I don't know...LOL but it was funny!!!

In the picture you shared, it's a Sunbeam Mixmaster. It's either a model 7 or 9, I would have to see the beaters to know for sure!

I know and love those Sunbeams! I have every make of Sunbeam Mixmaster starting from the model 3. Let's see, I have: (1) 3b named "Bernadine", (1) 5b named "Mr. Potato", (1) 7b named "Ernest", (1) early stickered 9b named "Pinny" , (1) later stickered 9b named "Juicy", (2) 10b's named "Geraldine" and "Heidi", (1) 11c named "Smiley", (2) 12b's named "Beamy" and "Nola", (1) MMA in avocado named "Beaker", (1) 1-7A in harvest gold named "Chippy", and (1) 2360 made in 1990 named "Hearty". The other two stand mixers I own are a 1970's General Electric named "Whippy" and a Dormeyer Mixwell named "Dormey". That's not even all of my electric hand mixers, that by the way, have names too! :) -Michelle

Yay! Let's see names: Geraldine the model 10 was my very first stand mixer I've ever owned! I wanted to get a stand mixer years back and I started doing research on them and couldn't fathom buying a new kitchenAid because they cost too much! So, from there I started doing research in vintage mixers, not knowing anything about them or what other companies made them besides KitchenAid. I went to a local antique store and found her tucked away in the dark! She was badly missing paint, (which was originally white but Sammy painted her pink for me), missing her beaters, and her bowls. I had to do extensive research to even find out what she was! I obviously figured it out and ordered her some beaters and the original Sunbeam milk glass bowls. Once she was here I wanted to give her a name fitting for the era in which she was made. I stumbled upon Geraldine and liked it! Next, after I was hooked on Sunbeams, I really liked the look of the model 3! Sammy bought me one off of EBay and I wanted to find a name fitting for her era as well and kind of played off of Geraldine's name, so I came up with Bernadine. Then the next mixer I got was my Dormeyer Mixwell off of EBay. I loved his front cover for the attachments! I just kept it simple and named him Dormey. As of last year and this year is when I've stupidly been collecting Sunbeams! My aunt surprised me and bought me my model 11 for Xmas. I named him Smiley because that's what the model 11's nick name is! I believe I got my model 5 next off of Etsy. It was a horrible transaction and horrible people to deal with. It took like 2 months before I got him in the mail! I named him Mr. Potato because there's a website called DecoDan and he talks all about the Sunbeams. There's a moving avatar of the potato peeler attachment for the Sunbeams and my husband thought it was cool and that was the first name to pop in my mind! Next, I think I got my 7 and later stickered 9 as a two deal on EBay. Once again, horrible people. I wanted an old name for one of them and my 7 looked like an Ernest! Sammy named my later stickered 9 Juicy. When we got these two the 9 didn't have a handle and is by far the worst condition mixer I have. Sammy found a handle for me and I felt sorry for her and put the juicer attachment that came with them on her. Technically the juicer is for the 7, but that's ok, there's sharing at my house! Ha Ha! Next, I got one of my model 12's from EBay. As soon as I opened the box I instantly named him Beamy! Next, I went to a local thrift store and bought my 2360, not so much for the mixer, but because it came with both milk glass bowls and I couldn't pass it up! He just looked like a Hearty to me! Next I bought my other model 10 from EBay. I felt sorry for it and want to restore it! She was accidently named! I had her tucked in the corner behind the kitchen chair. I told Sammy that she looked like she was hiding and he thought I said she was Heidi. So Heidi it is! Next, I got my other model 12 from a garage sale. I had to do a double take when I saw her because I couldn't believe that somebody would want to sell it! Turns out it was the woman's aunt's mixer originally and had been passed down to her. Her aunt was named Nola and she was named after her aunt. So, of course I told the woman that I would restore her and name her Nola. Next, I bought my early stickered 9 because of course I needed it! Ha Ha! When I first saw him on EBay I wanted to have Sammy pinstripe him for me like you see on the old rat rods. So, fitting of a name Pinny! Next, I bought my 1-7A off of EBay, because I wanted one from the 70's. He was listed for so cheap because his dial cup had a chip missing out of it and thought that would be funny to name him Chippy! Next, Sammy and I went to a flea market with some friends and found my MMA and had to have it! It was missing it's detachable power cord, beaters and bowls. I bought him a large original Sunbeam stainless steel bowl and some dough hooks off of EBay. I didn't have a mixer with dough hooks and found out that he came with them originally. I just borrow Chippy's cord for now to use him. I named him Beaker because Sammy and I made homemade bread a while back and his mixer head was bobbing up and down and it reminded me of those beaker water birds! Lastly, I got my General Electric from a garage sale we went to about close to a month ago now. Instantly I named him Whippy because that was the first thing I read on his mixing guide! That's my history of names for the stand mixers! :) -Michelle

Love the stories, Michelle! That's half the fun, but now you have to explain your clock-radio collection names!

Only kidding, Michelle! you have too many mixers that need  exercise to get carpal-tunnel syndrome in your hands!
