64 Tubes and Tools

Yes, the wands were plastic, as was the hose handle. As far as I am aware this was the first, and for a long time the only, mainstream use of plastic until Hoover in the early 1980s (or was it late 70s?). I say mainstream because my sister was given a vacuum cleaner as a wedding present (1974) which was made in the, then Soviet bloc which had plastic tubes. I think it was a "Band" or something like that, it also had a stretch hose. Anyway I am digressing .....

The carpet nozzle was not seen on any other lux that I am aware of, it was not the same as the 62. The floor nozzle was not the same as the 62 either, but resembled the plastic one used on the late 55 models only in cream rather than black
