Love commercial vacs although my Windsor feels on heavy side. The Hoover Conquest looks sweet in the pics i see but i have yet to come across one in my travels. I started this vac hobby interested in a vast array of brands other than Hoover but since rebuilding & now using an Avo Green Concept (Craigslist find) i'm begining to respect what they're about.

Hoover brand . . . Sebo/Windsor design

Hi,

Interesting, its brushroll has nice coverage. However, save for LED panel, it seems nearly the same as the Sebos I've seen right down to the HEPA. Being "would a rose by any other name smell as sweet" why did TTI bother branding this specific item as Hoover. It is outsourced isn't it?

Interesting that it seems to be a Sebo in disguise. I wonder where it is actually made?

Although I have never used a Sebo upright, I always thought that they looked not too dissimilar to the Mark I UK Hoover Turbopower. On that basis, I presumed them to be usable machines.

I have examined Sebos in a shop, and discovered that they do have useful features, like the pedal handle lock that can be switched either for continuous travel or stepped travel.

The only thing about them, that would really annoy me, is the hose. A top-mounted hose is asking for trouble. The machine will topple over in use.

Um.. sorry to disappoint you guys, but the Insight is based on a SEBO upright. SEBO have done this with other companies too - Oreck use SEBO commercial BS36 based uprights for their own commercial models. Even the brush roll and back carry handle are from SEBO on the Insight.

Yes the machine does fall over in use, but then again so did my Hoover Turbopower 2 and 3 models despite the hook thing at the bottom. Put it up against a wall and neither Hoover or Sebo will fall over - a reason to why both Hoover and Sebo place their models against a wall or the bottom step.

@ sebo fan

The oreck commercial upright is actually made by a company called IVAC not sebo in the Netherlands it has a division called fast and they produce allot of vacuums for other company'

I am pretty sure that the sebo 360 was a big inspiration for the ivac 350 however they improved on the sebo design quite a lot. the brush roll was bearing mounted and not bush mounted like on the sebo, the connection of foot piece to upper body was via a thick metal base so it never developed the wobble that sebo's suffer from in age. I have been out of the commercial market for a few years now here in SA but at the time the ivac was a third of the price of a sebo and they lasted twice as long

Its not a hoover convertible...

Sorry to disappoint... the model in your link is actually an original KARCHER FP222 floor polisher. There are permanent circular pads underneath. It does look like a Senior/Convertible with its soft bag but that's where the similarities end.

IVAC....

According to the SEBO specialists, the Hoover Insight quality is poor....

Also, according to SEBO, the IVAC upright has a copied SEBO base and the top part is a COPY of Nilco - Nilco make their own vacs and in this case weren't aware of IVAC's copy!

the Ivac has a similar base to the sebo but as mentioned but used a much more beefed up system. the brush ends are proper bearings not the bushes used in sebo's the motor also lasts longer than the sebo versions and has less bearing trouble too. but the best part is they cost about a 3rd of the price of a sebo.

I am very aware of sebo SA but they are a not run very well, you won't find them in higher end retail shops and are mainly sold to hotels. I have to admit I think they are very poor quality now days. and there spares are horrific. I have a old brown 360 that will run circles around the newer machines its not as powerful but judging by the amount of sebo's standing in my workshop at the moment mostly x123,4 g1&2 and 370's its a proper sebo

That surprises me, TBH. Our first Sebo lasted 13 to 15 years and only required a drive belt replacement. I've owned my X1.1 for 5 to 7 years now, and it's never let me down. Nothing has broken off it and nothing has had to be replaced other than the usual like the filters and bags. I haven't noticed much of a difference with the parts once the plastic hood is removed - it hasn't actually received much of an update other than raised motor power and a stepped gearbox so that it accepts the turbo brush and doesn't shut off - UNLIKE the old X1. Also the metal plate on the bottom has been replaced with a plastic plate.

When I've repaired them - it tends to be clogged dust and the odd drive belt replaced on the BS36 series. Unsurprisingly although cleaners tend to use them for hours on end, they never seem to be able to spend enough time unclogging them.

A lot of owners do spend time on the net shopping for other countries and companies who are prepared to send out the parts worldwide - the joy of the internet!

I mainly see them from a commercial side, and that was were i was speaking from. In a house yes they last much longer but then an Ivac will last even longer.

The main difference is the motors , On the x series they went from a very long lasting but not so powerful ametek lamb motor to a much more powerful but not as reliable dommel motor. same with the 360 -370 they replaced the brilliant arg motor with a dommel motor it does't last as long but hey that's how you sell vacuums. I suppose they decided that a commercial machine lasting 15 years in a hotel was a bad thing. from the hotels I deal with the new sebo's tend to last 1 -2 years before needing replacement were the old brown 360's would last 10 or more ( with servicing and some repairs) the new ones are knackered after a year or so
