I need a switch for the Avocado Bomber, which is Kenmore model number 116.29971. It switches the motor between high and low speeds. It is a big metal toggle switch with a metal plate on the outside that says High and Low. When I re-motored the vacuum I carefully saved this and some other items along with the worn out motor in the box the new motor came in and placed them on my work table in the garage.
Subsequent to this my fiancée piled said workbench sky high with her stuff and then re-disorganized the garage in it's entirety a couple of times. I have been looking for these items for several weeks. When I went to remove all the crap she had stacked up on my chair ( ! ) and cleaned up the work bench, I eventually found the motor thrown in with a bunch of her old college lab projects (she's finishing up her BSEE at age 46 and we have circuit boards and test equipment coming out of our ears) but the components I removed and saved during the project are still missing.
So, the motor is out being rebuilt and I really want to figure out what kind of switch to use so I can buy one from an electrical supply warehouse. Assume I know nothing about switches (close enough to be true) and don't know DPDT from a hole in a donut. I also don't really know what is happening in the motor to make it run different speeds. I tried to do this on my own realize my limits. I need some help from the experts here. Thanks.
