Well I made it, greetings from Wallingford, Connecticut.

First I need to find a house then get my collection out of the storage unit in Benton, Pennsylvania. Should take a few weeks but I'll soon have all my writing material, especially the book of Kirby patents, including the correct patent on 'The Broomstick.' The patent date on that is 1910.

I remember a demo of this Kiby-the salesman says "you can build a birdhouse with this Kirby and clean up the mess!"The jigsaw could be used on the extension shaft as a portable handheld jigsaw.The tiny foot didin't make a good table when used as a stationary jig-scrollsaw.You had to make a larger table yourself.

Here is a before and after of early Kirby Company /premier Ezee AKA grasshopper ,model N. This sweeper arrived at my door in a pretty bad shape ,all rusted inside and dented in a few places . I had to save it more detailed pics will be available on my website January 15th .

That's a pretty amazing transformation! Great job!
I'll do my best to clean up a machine, and try to make it look as good as possible. But, my hat is off to those of you who do actual, full restorations. You have a gift!

The strange thing here is my 509 is a 1948 model, maybe this is cause its the Canadian model

Website Update coming

EXTREMELY Rare Model (1) R or some like to refer to as late R . Both the (1)R and its counter part the (1)C are the only ones to ever use this particular belt lifter . I’ve been waiting years for this model and it finally found its way to me . Here are pictures of it post restoration ( polishing and cleaning) .

Kirbys, while well built and engineered, are terrible, awful vacs overall.

Such a waste of good engineers only to restrict them to clunky, upright, heavy vacs which can't clean the stairs, can't operate on battery power, and do a piss poor job shampooing carpets with filthy air.

Awful.

Odavid is that the right belt cap? I do believe it's the kirby cap where it looks like the paint is dripping. It's hard to tell with the pic

Yes the very first Bakelite belt cap that came after the brass one had a similar design. The more familiar belt cap appeared late in production and was mostly prominent with the 2C-505 , although late model C were also fitted with it .
When I refer to the C models the same goes for the R series as well . On the R there was another variation of a permanent fixed nozzle that came with the brass belt cap .

Please disregard panasonic1053 's comments. He seems to have issues with Vacuumland over drama with the VCCC so he's just attacking everyone to try and ruin the site. He has been doing comments like that since the day he joined.
