MY NEW VINTAGE KIRBY WEBSITE!

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

I am truly amazed at your ability to find these such rare vacuums so fast, David! Most people have never even seen these outside of photos in a book, or a museum floor. Kirby's company museum has one of those Grasshoppers, and that is really the only place you'd ever get to see one - if you could talk your way in.

@huskyvacs

Thank you ! :). Tbh I’ve been very proactive in searching for these vintage Kirbys for many years but a lot is luck and the other is that I paid a good amount for those Ezee machines 😆 . But luck mostly . And I’m very happy to share information and pictures with the vacuum collecting community .
As for how many Ezee vacuums are out there . I know of at least 5 : , Kirby HQ one( it’s on loan ) , I have 2 , the museum of clean.has one , a lady in Alaska just recently told me she has one . ( didn’t show pics though ).
I’m sure there might be more but it’s hard to tell unless they post about it .
What’s your favorite vintage Kirby ?

Fun fact :none of these 5 exceed the 1800 unit count serial no. In my opinion,5000 units max were made , if that .

Tom

Gasko probably knows where one is or has one. Thomas Stephen and Adam mercer and Mike also know of owners if I'm guessing.

Looks great! Did you re-create the lettering script too or was that all just masked off and painted around?

Always amazing to see how good the metal is under all that tarnish, you wouldn't think it would survive and turn out so cleanly.

@huskyvacd

Thank you . It was a combination of masking and hand painting by a calligraphy specialist .
It was a very long process to bring it to its original state. Although it was in a much better shape than the 1912 model , that one was a real nightmare lol

Model R

With the addition of this model R with a headlight (brass cover) I have 5 of the 6 R series . I will be featuring all of them with more detail on my site soon. This unit needs a lot of work ,for being produced nearly 90 years ago it runs pretty good . Restoration images to follow in a few weeks.

What are the 6 model Rs you are asking ?!

R brass belt cover ( skinny toggle switch)
R with headlight brass belt cover
R now only produced with a headlight ,redesigned bag and first Bakelite black and red belt cover .sometimes referred to as 1R, handle switch redesigned .
2R
3R
4R

Thanks very much.

My Kirby pre-war learning curve is pretty sketchy -- and my Kirby post-war learning curve is virtually non-existent.

Your collectingdust site is super.

David

I have said this before on another thread, but your Kirby website is absolutely stunning! And especially the work you put into restoring those Kirby's. You are a great and valuable resource to the Kirby collectors out there, and even just every day people who want to find out more info about "Aunt Nancy's old Kirby" she had for 45 years and left it in her will to a family member.

You're a inspiration to us all - keep up the great work! :-)

Alright guys , years 1981-1991 are officially live on my site. You can download any of the manuals as well. Please check out the memorabilia section at the end . Here is the link. Let Me know what you think . Should you see any errors or inaccuracies please DM me 🙂

David,

Do you need Kirby groom oil? My Kirby vacs and parts need to GO as time allows. I would like the more rare and older to find homes with collectors but my local scrap metal guy was here an hour ago asking for more aluminum vacs.
Great site! Great information!

Red

Emtor?
Please explain how you came across a painted Emtor than nobody else has seen in real life other than artist rendering.

Was

It released by kirby painted?
The kirby company providing info on pre G3 models is utterly impossible.
I'll go to your website again. To be blunt is it authentic because plastic mini emtors took over h2l1. Thanks in advance.

Les

The Legend II was the last Kirby to include the Emtor, it was first released in black along side the black and maroon shampoo system ( Remo group) and later was released in the maroon you see in the picture alongside the all maroon shampoo system . It was produced for a very short period of time thus making it incredibly rare , I’m aware of other collectors having seen and one or two that also own them. The split second in Maroon was also released with the Legend II and is extremely rare and if you search for it I doubt you’ll find images of it . For reference please check my site to see the different shampoo systems and the different emtors. The legend II was a transitional model and was produced along side the G3 which makes it very unique.
I hope I was able to answer your questions
