No I just polished them , bc I had to remove the trim which i prefer not to but in this case the original was in bad shape and broke .
Here is a 4C with the trim and unpolished rivets . In this case I didn’t remove the trim before polishing .

Nice going, David! Your Kirby website is a treasure trove for collectors, enthusiasts, and/or researchers.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge, background, and expertise without being overly-consumed with others reposting and using the information (although it's respectful and honest to cite one's resources for sure).

Your hard work and generosity are appreciated! Wow!

Thank you Paul ! Much appreciated :) , I’ll keep updating this thread when new info goes up on the site as well.
. I’ll be uploading 50s demo books and a new year category this month .

Yes!! Collecting Dust is a great website for the fans of Kirby.

I hope you will continue with the 70's and up models.

I came across the salesman literature for the Kirby Classic III.

I wouldn't mind sharing that information some how. I just don't want to give up the Original documents.

I hope others follow your lead with the other brands as well. We can not replace that history once it is gone.

I’m the process of adding more models and literature to my website . Here is a beautiful Classic CR with attachments .
Notice the Sanitronic “S” font pattern oh the boxes ? Doing away with the Sanitronic series …

Another interesting fact is that between the years 1970 ,1971 the classic came with the Roll-O-waxer , it was then replaced with the “Miracle waxer” in 1973 for a few months only making it the most rare attachment to find .

PS
If you have either for sale please contact me . I’d love to add it to my website .

Hi David.

In ten days I'm returning to Connecticut. Hopefully before Christmas I'll have all my paperwork back. I have a ton of Kirby material including the patents I acquired over the years.

Alex Taber.

By the way, Caligula, shown in my avatar was the only mascot the V.C.C.C. ever had.

Hi odavid123:

Well I made it, greetings from Wallingford, Connecticut.

First I need to find a house then get my collection out of the storage unit in Benton, Pennsylvania. Should take a few weeks but I'll soon have all my writing material, especially the book of Kirby patents, including the correct patent on 'The Broomstick.' The patent date on that is 1910.

House hunting tomorrow.

Alex Taber.

I remember a demo of this Kiby-the salesman says "you can build a birdhouse with this Kirby and clean up the mess!"The jigsaw could be used on the extension shaft as a portable handheld jigsaw. The tiny foot didin't make a good table when used as a stationary jig-scrollsaw.You had to make a larger table yourself.

That's a pretty amazing transformation! Great job!
I'll do my best to clean up a machine, and try to make it look as good as possible. But, my hat is off to those of you who do actual, full restorations. You have a gift!

Website Update coming

EXTREMELY Rare Model (1) R or some like to refer to as late R . Both the (1)R and its counter part the (1)C are the only ones to ever use this particular belt lifter . I’ve been waiting years for this model and it finally found its way to me . Here are pictures of it post restoration ( polishing and cleaning) .
More info and pics on my website in a few days .

Kirbys, while well built and engineered, are terrible, awful vacs overall.

Such a waste of good engineers only to restrict them to clunky, upright, heavy vacs which can't clean the stairs, can't operate on battery power, and do a piss poor job shampooing carpets with filthy air.

Awful.

He

Opened his mouth and already spoke. Your not going to get enlightened your going to get dumber if he continues.
Odavid is that the right belt cap? I do believe it's the kirby cap where it looks like the paint is dripping. It's hard to tell with the pic

Lesinutah

Yes the very first Bakelite belt cap that came after the brass one had a similar design. The more familiar belt cap appeared late in production and was mostly prominent with the 2C-505 , although late model C were also fitted with it .
When I refer to the C models the same goes for the R series as well . On the R there was another variation of a permanent fixed nozzle that came with the brass belt cap .
