I refurbished a DC07 and DC04 for some lady the other week, and when I dropped them back off she said she found her old hoover in the loft, would I be interested in it. When I saw what it was, and checked it worked, I knocked £30 off the bill and came home with this:

And 23 bags and 2 filters!I found another 10 bags in the garage too so no shortage there!

We are moving to a house hopefully next week, so my aim is to have this for the upstairs, which hopefully got the new carpet laid today (no idea what sort though sadly), and I can keep the S6 downstairs for the laminate, using whatever on the rugs my girlfriend wants to get.

So, I gave it a quick check over tonight. No full stripdown yet, as it's pretty clean, and it will be used alot over the next few weeks!

Took ages to seperate the two halves, I doubt they have been apart since coming out of the box new (lady couldnt rememberhow old it was, got put in the loft when she bought the DC04 in 2001 though)

I've got a new genuine one of these somewhere. Will try to dig it out at the weekend

I havent properly used it yet either. Gave it a quick run round when I bought it home with a new bag in and it picked up a nice fistful of dirt, and is very quiet and smooth. Aim to give it a proper run this weekend sometime.

And it made a change from bloody DC07's!

Yep I'm keeping this one! Will be our upstairs machine.

The lady also said she would have the instructions filed away somewhere, will facebook me when she finds it!

It does need a spa session though. Will do that when we get moved and settled though.

Great fine, looks in good condition too. Hope you enjoy using it! I love the full metal soleplate on it. I take it the bags you have are the paper ones and not the synthetic ones?

Yes they are paper ones. I didn't know they did synthetic bags, although saying that you can get synthetic bags for everything nowadays! I'll wait until after I've stripped and refurbished it before buying those.

Re pictures, copy the embed code out (the long one) and they show. I use Picasa, but other photo hosting sites are available!

They do but I believe they only have recently started to sell them on mass, I think Ryan posted a thread about them. Your certainly can!!

I've not used the X Series ones (but they would be the same) as I don't own one of them yet, but I've just used my first one in my Felix and I can honestly say I prefer them over the paper ones. They seem to last longer and compact the dust and dirt more and you don't notice any drop in performance as they fill. It was like a brick when I removed it!

Having used numatic hepaflo instead of the old paper bags I know what you mean. I use the HEPA flow ones in my garage machine which gets used for cars, other Vacs, garage floor etc and its fine until the end and no leakage.

Just run it round upstairs and its nearly a quarter full. It doesn't seem to be too aggressive on the floor but is getting loads up.

Our house has new carpets going down, do I will use the paper ones until that stops shredding, then spa day it and switch to the better bags. My sister in law has an x4 and 3 large dogs so I'll give her my stash of paper bags, she goes through them very quickly!

They are good, I'm impressed with them. Sounds like they work in your garage vac ok.

Thats impressive its working ok then, pulling up dirt from your carpets. Thats I believe the beauty of the X Series it's not over aggressive but still performs well protecting your carpets. Thats what I like about my Felix although manual height adjustment it doesn't feel like it being aggressive but performs well and grooms the carpet.

Good idea and as you already have paper ones might as well use them for that. Gosh I bet she does with 3 large dogs, they will come in handy for her then. Thats what is mostly in my Felix bags pet hair from one dog, although this new synthetic bag I used last 5 months 1-2 months more than the paper ones I used to use.

Ah I used to tear a paper numatic bag within minutes sometimes cleaning out the garage, normally with gravel that's been tracked in off the drive.

Top tip though, don't clean out a full ashtray then leave it for 2 months, had to leave the garage it stank so much!

Very good!

I bet all though sharp edges least the synthetic are stronger too.

Lol good tip, I bet it did as well!

Great video, grooms the carpet well you could see that. Was going to ask how the tools where your video answered that one. I like the sound of the X Series vac no high pitch sound like some!

Mind you the modern glossy versions I bet get scratched by most users and would be more visible do you think than the older matt ones? The SEBO vacuums have a pleasant sound....so wished I had got an X series over my S7 to accompany my Felix do like the X series!

The brush roll doesn't look that actual worn, Beko. If the machine has a red light coming up on the panel to show that the brush roll needs replacing, then by all means then replace it.

I would disagree - the brush roll is the same they use on the Felix and I find both the X and Felix groom well - but then I have pure wool short loop carpets and I use SEBO's delicate brush roll which has softer bristles.

The stiffer standard one you have should be effective but the auto sensor is probably not allowing it to look as groomed compared to a conventional upright that ploughs through carpets. The X series was originally designed to be gentle on carpets.

What you could buy for it are a set of fresh filters - thus you'll be purging the vacuum cleaner and giving it a better quality of air that emerges out of it.

That's the beauty of the SEBO - the spares are readily available for the X series - plus the brush roll comes out via a touch of a button - so unlike so many other uprights of the period that require the screws to undo.

Check that the filter roll by the bag is clean though - dust on the back of it can be wiped off.
