My new Sebo Automatic X1

Ah, nice to see another member has finally discovered that SEBO cleaners are a cut above! I discovered that too. I just love using my Sebo's. My Dysons are all now relegated to the back of the loft. I will still keep them though, as at the end of the day, they are still vacuum cleaners, and they were made in a time when Dysons were actually quite good.

My X4 is just a good old fashioned bagged upright, with no balls, and no cyclones, and by god its a good cleaner. There will come a day sadly when SEBO replace it - I just hope they don't replace it with something not as good. The X series is a timeless classic.

I have alot of love for Sebo at the moment! I've always wanted one, having used my sister in laws X4 a few times, and I'm glad I've got one now.

Our carpets are wasted on it though tbh, so it will probably get a spa day then sit with the rest of my collection rather than be a daily, but I'm glad I've got it!

I know you've always wanted one, so I'm chuffed you got the X1 Automatic. I always try and recommend that model to those who are looking for a cheap priced upright if they have their heart set on the X1.1 or X4. Let's face it, the X1A is an old upright vacuum now on the basis that it is no longer sold, but it is a very popular vacuum that still sees a lot of bids whenever they appear on EBAY.

I've had no regrets since selling off my X4. I'm happy with my older X1 Automatic. The key here is that at the end of the day you're getting a commercial built vacuum cleaner. I think that's the major difference between SEBO and other brands and quite a few people forget that even if there's a "domestic" line compared to commercial.

Glad to hear you are liking your SEBO X1. Great video too by the way. One pass pick up too. Was interested to read about the Dyson DC07 being used after the X1 just shows you don't need complicated vacuum cleaners to clean effectively or have brut force suction to clean well. I'm impressed by that at the X1 has a 850 watt motor! Keep saying I will get an X Series model some day!

I can't see SEBO replacing the X Series anytime soon it's still popular I would have thought for the main design not to have really changed over the years! They will more likely update it I bet with slight changes!

Interestingly I was watching a video on YouTube on the new BS 36 and 46 Compact (with the new improved cleaning head) and got me thinking about the X Series. I know people including myself have said why don't the X included brush roll switch off and variable suction! Why change a winning tried and tested formula! A new X Series could be a version of the BS Comfort enabling brush roll turn off due to twin motor setup and even 2 versions with manual and auto height adjustment! Then add variable suction like the Felix has!

Just a thought but like I said why change a formula that works for them! It still sells all these years later and lasts the user for years in a market which is full of bagless vacuums cheap or expensive! So it still has some appeal simply as it does what it says it does and is easy to use and maintain compared to current offerings!

I think that is one reason to why SEBO UK don't have the G2 with manual height adjustment because they know buyers can go with the commercial uprights instead.

The thought has also crossed my mind with the brush roll on/off function. Perhaps whatever comes in above the X series will offer brush roll on/off. But then again SEBO may well be happy with what they have at present. Unlike Miele, it takes SEBO a long time to get something new out that doesn't steal sales from what they have on their books already.

Very true. That's probably why they haven't relaxed the X Series yet as they are happy with it as it stands. Suppose that's why the Felix came out like you say so it doesn't steal sales away from what it already has. Plus the Felix was designed to appeal to another market sector was it not? Or what I once read at the younger age group! Unless it's a replacement model like the D was for the C.

Not sure about the younger group, but I can see why it would, or rather to those after style and function - something, despite the colours and soft curves, the X series can't get away with.

Actually, the Felix came about when one of the original designers for Vorwerk ended up working at SEBO and designed a very similar model, obviously in conjunction with Vorwerk's previous design. Thus, the height adjustable handle comes from Vorwerk design as well as interchangeable floor heads and the swivel joint. Thus, the Felix was made for those looking for an upright in a medium home with the X designed for larger homes.

Evidently though it shares a similar bag capacity (by some 0.5 litres) to the K cylinder vacuum, the Felix has always had lower power to match the X4. That's excluding the 175 watt small PN or the 200 watt PN. I'd be interested to see if SEBO can lower the motor power of the PN with the EU law coming in.

That's probably one of the reasons I picked the Felix over the X Series for the versatility.

Thanks Sebo_fan for that bit of info on how the Felix came about very interesting to know. It does echo some of the Vorwerk's designs of their vacuums. You can see why people say the Felix is similar to some Vorwerk's vacuums.

I did wonder if the Felix bag capacity was similar to the K Series. It will be interesting to see what happens to the Felix for future versions of it and like you say see what SEBO can do with the PN wattage. Wonder if the new EU Law includes the PN motor wattage with the main unit motor wattage? I noticed the Vorwerk VK150 has a 900 watt motor in the main unit but combined with additional equipment it's 1300 watts (which must include the PN which surely isn't 400 watts?). I was quite surprised how very light the new Vorwerk is! Mind you if that new K Series has a 700 watt motor and performs ok they could fit a 700 watt motor and keep the 175 and 200 watt PN.

Im not sure what SEBO will do, but at least the X4 and Felix are safe for the moment given that the EU law proposes 1600 watts until 2017. The K series uses a different filter system to the Felix - slightly different - though future versions may mirror what is on the D series.

They sure are for now! See what the future brings. One thing is for sure quality easy to use vacuums will still emerge from SEBO. The only thing I'm not clear on unless I've mis understood this new EU law is it new vacuums to the market excluding existing ones already on sale. Suppose it means all currently on the market!? I've seen pictures of the D series filter system but not actually touch or seen them in person. I take it the pre motor filter on the D series above the bag uses a new type of material?
