My new Sebo Automatic X1

Actually Ive just thought of something - Hoover used to produce excellent stitched cloth dust bags for the Junior and Senior. Well, Im not sure it was Hoover that produced them, themselves but I had a few rescue Junior uprights that had them and by god it would take months for them to fill up.

Knowing that the Purepower also had a Fabric SMS dust bag, was there ever one made for use with the Turbopower? Or was the offensive pushed towards the Perma Dust box instead on other MOL models (Middle-of-the-line).

Well actually I have gone off Turbopower 2 cleaners at the moment and am more interested in the Turbopower 1 and Turbomaster. I am still obsessed with them though!

Yes Mr Hoovers94, so it appears. It also appears that you are finding out how fragile and brittle the parts of these vacs is - re the back wheel on your TM disintegrating. Good luck trying to find another one, they are as rare as TP2 brushrolls!

Well indeed, but I have seen it MANY times on Turbopower cleaners, the rear wheels smashing and it seems the same happens with TM rear wheels...However I feel the TM cleaners are FAR sturdier.

No matter how sturdy you think a TM is, I can guarantee it isn't as sturdy as a Sebo X series, as they are not made with that brittle plastic that Turbopower 1's and TM's were made with. The TP2 was a great improvement in the plastic quality over the 80's designed machines, it was also better quality than the Dyson DC01 that outsold it back in the day.

Of course it isn't as sturdy as the Sebo, I know. I don't think that the Turbopower was cheaply made I just think the plastic was not thick enough where it should of been. The Turbopower 2 was very well built in comparison to the original range which is why so many TP2 cleaners survive undamaged.

Yes, they may be more TP2's surviving, but with parts for them now nearly non existant, how much longer will they be around for? I still cant get over the fact that you cant get a brushroll for a TP2 any longer, but then again, no-one fixes anything any more in our throw away culture. its all about selling more new models now than fixing old ones. Anything that increases the profits of the fat cat companies like TTI and Dyson

To be honest, in all the TP2's I have come across the brushrolls seem to be in good condition anyway.

Yes Alex, but you know the feeling - your wheels have broken on the Turbomaster, and they are obsolete now, so that machine is now pretty useless for want of a wheel. Not even Qualtex make them. Since the recession, so many companies have gone bust or had to scale back on what they produce to avoid going bust, so now we have great difficulty keeping old models on the road. Its sad, but makes it more fun trawling ebay for old parts to fit our machines. When you eventually find what you are looking for its very satisfying!

Think how you felt when you found a 1997 Purepower Autosense - it was like hitting the jackpot, a rare machine that no-one else has, and the seller posted it to you. Then I can imagine that sinking feeling when you opened the parcel and that flaming Royal Mail had damaged it in transit, and the subsequent trawl to then find a new chassis.


Its the feeling you get when you find a rare machine and win it that keeps us collecting more and always on the lookout on ebay for bargains. I spend hours on ebay looking through thousands of machines for that odd diamond in the rough, and when one comes up, its very exiting!


So, I say never throw out an old rare vac if you can at all help it, because one day, that elusive part might just crop up on ebay to fix it with. Put it into long term storage in the loft and always keep an eye out for the part it needs.

I did know that I could buy a new chassis for the Purepower so was not to miffed. Speaking of that I watched for an entire week and bid at the last few seconds I decided to make my bid at 15 seconds and then it said "please sign in"...My heart was in my mouth so I tried signing in , it said "wrong password try again", I was getting more and more anxious, so I put in my password again and it said "wrong password, please try again" At this point I was screaming at the computer, so I put it in again knowing that this would probably be my final attempt and it said "confirm bid" I was like yessssss, I confirmed it and it said "you are the high bidder", it went back to the listing and the clock had 1 second remaining and then...."you have won this auction" I stood up shaking and out of breath, that was how badly I wanted it.

That's happened to me as well with the signing in business on ebay, and I have lost an item over it as there wasn't enough time left to sign in before the auction ending, so I now always re-sign in before I need to make a sniper bid in the last dying seconds of an auction.

it is annoying though because you completely forget how to react carmly so you are panicking trying to type it in quickly and often forgetting your password completely are continuous spelling it wrong in the race against the clocK

Anyway, regarding the Turbomaster wheels, I think I may contact Espares and see if they have any old stock of them in the warehouse.

You could try - but I don't think Espares will have any, nor will Buyspares, as I tried all my suppliers the other night when I was trawling for wheels for your TM. I had no luck, and I think the only way you will get any is if you buy another Turbomaster machine and break it for parts. Its like owning an old car, you have to go to the breakers yard to find parts off other old cars to fix your own.

Its doing a stunning job. Had a dc07 in for a motor swap and it picked hardly anything up after using the x1 since the carpet was laid!
