My New Aerus Vacuums

Strange that your upright leaks and is dusty. I have an Aerus lux 6000 that is 18 years old and the after bag filter is never dirty and there is no dust at all in the bag chamber. It has never been serviced or been in the shop, used three times per week. I think I would have it checked out if I were you, there may be a problem causing this.

I think George has many problems with his upright . My mother uses a Discovery II she has owned since 1986 I just checked it out yesterday and there is no dust in the bag chamber nor any on the after filter under the bag and that's with 27 years of use she vacuums everyday and hundreds of bags .

I also turned her`s over and held a tissue by the suction hose on the bottom of machine and switched the vacuum on and the tissue stood still no blowing around like Georges.

I would suggest George take his to Aerus and have it checked out and serviced as something is wrong with his upright . The home solutions and all their previous bags have always been excellent filtering bags .

I have done this, no resolution on this matter. I have been to two Aerus dealers and contacted the customer service at Aerus LLC Dallas.... the dealer claims its the motor blowing air from the power nozzle fan and it was fine... I laughed! I decided two months ago to take apart the unit to find out... what I found is that the air coming into the main chamber is forced past the intake hose at the bottom of the unit. The air is actually blowing out from the wire and hose area at the base. This is occurring because there is no seal inside the unit. So I would say a quarter of the air comes out of the base and the rest goes out of the side hepa filter. I went to a home show three weeks ago in the NY area and Aerus had a booth... I tried out their Guardian Upright and checked to see if there is the same issue, and there was!! So mine is not the only one being made with this problem. I think its a flaw that prior models may not have had. The company and dealers are oblivious to this.

It still works but its not a vacuum I will keep long term. Awaiting to see what the new upright is like, if its a major improvement I will buy one. If not, I will look to other brands for a sealed upright system that is better constructed and quieter.

I simply can't believe hearsay. Miele fans are known for thier fantastical claims. To hear many Miele fans tell it, thier machines vacuum by themselves while making no noise at all, washes thier car, feeds the dog, and rocks thier baby to sleep. I know Miele's filtration is Grade A Excellent but the sheer notion that they capture all dirt is simply an impossibility. Miele cannot suspend the laws of physics. Any porous surface will allow some dirt to pass through. If Miele's bags were perfect, there would be no need for further filtering media. Home Care Industries tests thier bags using real world and laboratory means. They are among the highest filtering bags on the market. Many other companies use thier bags branded to thier machines. I've never heard or seen with my own eyes an Electrolux/Aerus machine that was blowing dust. If that were the case, they would clog and be trashed like crazy. Aerus and Electrolux uprights are not "sealed" for sure but the Platinum canister is and has been proven beyond the shadow of doubt to be sealed. I'm sure the Platinum upright that will eventually come will be similar, they always are.

Thank you

Christopher I didn`t want to get into Miele again but EVERY Miele I have owned had dust in the bag chamber and for what ever reason they always make the dirt in the bags smell and no other vacuum I own smells when I use them .

I own 2 of the newest Aerus Guardian uprights and not one leaks air like Georges does . Spending that type of money George that is totally unacceptable and you need to demand they look at your machine . Every upright I have purchased for my family and friends I have checked and it`s about 35 in total and I have looked at them all and 34 have no dust in bag chambers 1 did have a little but she was using a generic bag nor did they blow air from the bottom of the machines .

Yes, if I were him I would trade it in on a Miele upright if I wasn't happy. My Mom's Kirby smells after a while when the bag begins to fill, but it doesn't smell as bad as the 2 Eureka Bosses we had when I was home. Aerus' double HEPA should make a killer upright if they ever get it out to the public.

Lux Platinum Bags

I am using the new bags that Aerus sent me in my Platinum, and so far there is no fine dust in the bag chamber.BUT I still am having the issue of the cardboard bag top is still pulling in and getting bent. But still I have no dust in the bag chamber. And I am surprised that the machine packs those bags like cement and still has lots of suction. And as far as the Lux Gaurdian upright goes mine is only a year old and it blows air out of the bottom where the cord goes into the powernozzle. But I still like it. Now I just have to use it more... LOL Dan

Thank you thermokid...

The newer all white Guardian Uprights (2009-now) have the air leak problem out of the base near the cord. Its an overlooked flaw- lack of quality control testing before it leaves the plant. What percentage have this issue- I don't know. Like I said the machine works, but that air out of the bottom is prior to the HEPA filter, so its not 99.97%. Furthermore, if you use the upright on hardwood floors with suction only the air escaping at the base actually scatters debris and dust. At the cost of the machine, Its not up to par.

Electromatik- According to the Aerus and Miele websites: Home solutions bags capture 94%, Miele AirClean bags capture 99.5% Outside of maybe the Platinum canister, Miele takes the cake when it comes to filtration.

From all your negative comments about Aerus and all your high praises about Miele your brand of upright should only be Miele . Heck you should even work for Miele you sure make a great Miele spokesman and I believe you would do very well selling them . Had I have not been a Authorized Miele dealer in the past and know the machines inside and out I would really want to buy a Miele from your sales pitches.

If my Aerus vacuums were leaking as yours are there would be no way I would just accept it like you have . Your machine has a problem and you should demand to have it fixed . Aerus is an awesome company and has been in business for 89 years and their customer service is top notch they would NEVER just tell someone oh well that's how it is they would fix it even if they had to pick it up from your local Aerus dealer and ship it back to their engineering department it would be fixed without a doubt. I have been dealing with them for over 30 years and they always stand by their products .

Good luck and pursue the repair of your defective machine

Dan

Hey I am not selling anything here, just stating fact...I don't defend any specific brand... Miele isn't perfect either, but just because your machine doesn't leak doesn't mean other peoples do not. I have tried just about every route to address this issue with them. I could probably do a better job in the engineering department...Here is one of your earlier posts:

Just got my bags and HEPA filter this morning will try it out later this week and let you guys know .

I did notice the new bags are made in China they used to be made here at the Aerus factory in the good ole USA .

Maybe that is why people on this board are having issues with the bag caving in under pressure...its made in $%(#*@ China!

I agree with Dan

Have your vac sent back to Aerus . I have can't imagine that something isn't wrong with it! Aerus always stands by their products, so take advantage of this option .

They don't stand behind the product, I have called the company who relayed me back to the dealer I bought it from, who then told me it was fine after checking it out. Called the company again, they told me to bring it to another Aerus dealer.... JOKE! you guys are bulldozed thinking this company has the best customer service. Reality is they know its a design flaw and might even be addressing this in the next model... However, they don't want to just give me a new vacuum to replace this one. They claim "each franchise is individually owned, and its up to the dealer you bought it from to honor a replacement."

George

I know the ladies at Aerus who handle the complaints and they would NEVER tell a customer what you say you are told . I have purchased over 100 Aerus vacuums and the customer service is number one .

Every manufacturer uses parts made in china its the way of our world today when china makes stuff ultra cheap and pays labor pennies to work . I am disappointed in Aerus having their bags made in china and have suggested that could be the bag problem .

Dan

....don't get me wrong, I do like the vacuum otherwise, and the full size attachments. Its a well known long lasting vacuum brand. However, I unfortunately had issues with my upright and poor customer service in the resolving.

What type of motor is used in the PN & SideKick? Is it a Johnson Electric brushless motor?

btw, I saw a pre-owned Guardian Platinum on eBay. Unfortunately the auction has already ended.[this post was last edited: 3/16/2013-00:09]

It is a shame about the China bags. Home Care Industries is to blame for that. They closed thier Virginia plant not long ago. Aerus doesn't make bags anymore, they get Home Care Industries to make them and brand them to Aerus. We should sound off on the bag manufacturer over this. There is no way a relatively simple thing like a vacuum bag ought to be cheaper made in China when they have to ship it over thousands of miles of ocean. The shipping costs ought to be prohibitive.

Chinese parts and bags...

I've always been a lover of the Electrolux and made it a point to become friends with my local dealer where ever I lived. It always paid off one way or another and I finally ended up repairing machines for them. You would be amazed at how many genunie Aerus parts are actually made in China that at one time were made here. This may be how the world is now operating and I do hope all this talk of chage does some good and we can bring this back to the US where it belongs. I have no qualms paying a higer price for a quality product made in the US or even 90% US made like some other manufactureres.

My New Aerus vVacuums

If what I am reading on this thread about not only the bags but other parts being made in China,I am very sad that Aerus took this route and I really would think a lot before investing that much money in one of their new products.
It has caused me to lose respect and some interest in the product.
It may only be my experience, but my vacuums that were made or had parts from China have not been very good in the area of quality control. Now the problems with the leaking bags make more sense.

williamr

Its unfortunate, but if you read my previous posts, why I should even be talking about air leaking out of my vacuum period! Its a quality control issue. Whether this is a few units per hundred or thousand.... It should not be if every unit is being tested before packaging. I am wondering if they are even assembled here now. The label just says Aerus, LLC Dallas, TX... does not even say Made in US, or Made in US with sourced components. With the new Platinum its a good machine, don't get me wrong- and that's original post of this thread, but its a product that's made in US/China/EU. I think that's when you can start to run into hiccups in your product, when you loose focus or try to cut costs and grab parts that are cheaper from other countries and manufacturing sources.
