My New Aerus Vacuums

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Hi Brian. I just changed to my 3rd new bag today. I have a little dirt on the hepa pre filter but not nearly as bad as with the old bags. I guess that is what the its hepa is for. There is no dirt on the after hepa which is the original that came with the machine and went through 3 or four of the old bags.

Dan

you are so right especially if you pay cash for anything you can always negotiate the price to a much better price .

I pay cash for everything from my homes to my cars to everything in between .

My late Grandmother always said if you don`t have the cash for something you want to purchase you don`t need it .

Brian ,

Sorry to hear your bags are leaking still I have to try mine I have to find the time . I am excited about the new upright I can`t wait to get it .

Dan

Thanks luxman and kirbyloverdan for the price info. If it's under $1,500 that would be a miracle. I'm really surprised they put a price that low on it at all. Considering the money paid for Rainbows and Kirby's and some of the other door-to-door models. I wouldn't mind to pay $1,500 as that is fair to me for a good long-lasting machine. I'm a little disappointed in this bag issue some are having. One says they don't leak and one says they do. Who to believe? LOL

Would price negotiating work if I "layaway" the Guardian Platinum? I may buy the Guardian Platinum & either the Classic or Legacy.

What will the new PN look like? Hopefully it'll have a steel brush roller w/replaceable bristle strips. Or maybe Aerus/Lux will go beltless so buying belts won't be an issue.

That is

100% Genuine Aerus I own that model its the newest and last Model of the Guardian that was replaced by The Guardian Ultra .

The closest thing to a fake Aerus is the perfect brand made in China .

Christopher ,

Maybe they are sending some of us the older first generation bags that could be the reason for the inconsistency , I have yet to try my new bags Aerus sent me .

Erik ,

I had no idea they did layaway I know they have a credit card you could apply for .
I paid for mine with cash and purchase many Aerus machines for friends and family
that's how I get better prices

Dan

Thanks Chris, that's what I am thinking about the after filter dirt.. No bag is going to keep all the dirt out, that' is the reason for the double hepa.

Yes I would imagine any bag will leak somewhat. Even Electrolux/Aerus bags, despite the company being so hateful and picky about them and the warranty, allowed dirt to pass thru the motor. I'd like to see a prefilter on a Miele machine after a few bags use to compare.

I know I am checking the filter on my platinum every time I vacuum for dust/dirt. So far so good with new bags. The second hepa, by the exhaust, is spotless - and is the original that came on the machine. I don't know if I'm just lucky or there was just a bag issue, but to me the problem is over, and I am just going to enjoy having this great vacuum in my modest collection.
Can't wait for info on new upright......

Cliff, my second filter is spotless too even after going though a few of the original bags. The pre filter is doing the job it is suppose to do

I have an Aerus Upright and Miele canister. The Aerus only has very small amount of dust in the bag chamber. The pre-motor filter gets very dusty and dirty. I have to clean it after about every two bag changes. The miele never has any dust in the bag chamber and the pre-motor filter after 7 bag changes is still white! Miele is known for its filtration. With Aerus they need to improve the bags to a multi layer cloth to help with better filtration. The Home solutions blue paper bags are so-so, they are definitely not as good as Miele bags.

As long as the dirt is not leaving the machine, that is all I care about. No minor bag problem will stop me from buying it. There will eventually be a new upright because they almost always have an upright to match the canister. They do need an updated model.

I agree Christopher, no dirt leaving the machine is all I care about also. Especially because of my allergies..

Strange that your upright leaks and is dusty. I have an Aerus lux 6000 that is 18 years old and the after bag filter is never dirty and there is no dust at all in the bag chamber. It has never been serviced or been in the shop, used three times per week. I think I would have it checked out if I were you, there may be a problem causing this.

Cliff

I think George has many problems with his upright . My mother uses a Discovery II she has owned since 1986 I just checked it out yesterday and there is no dust in the bag chamber nor any on the after filter under the bag and that's with 27 years of use she vacuums everyday and hundreds of bags .

I also turned her`s over and held a tissue by the suction hose on the bottom of machine and switched the vacuum on and the tissue stood still no blowing around like Georges.

I would suggest George take his to Aerus and have it checked out and serviced as something is wrong with his upright . The home solutions and all their previous bags have always been excellent filtering bags .

I have done this, no resolution on this matter. I have been to two Aerus dealers and contacted the customer service at Aerus LLC Dallas.... the dealer claims its the motor blowing air from the power nozzle fan and it was fine... I laughed! I decided two months ago to take apart the unit to find out... what I found is that the air coming into the main chamber is forced past the intake hose at the bottom of the unit. The air is actually blowing out from the wire and hose area at the base. This is occurring because there is no seal inside the unit. So I would say a quarter of the air comes out of the base and the rest goes out of the side hepa filter. I went to a home show three weeks ago in the NY area and Aerus had a booth... I tried out their Guardian Upright and checked to see if there is the same issue, and there was!! So mine is not the only one being made with this problem. I think its a flaw that prior models may not have had. The company and dealers are oblivious to this.

It still works but its not a vacuum I will keep long term. Awaiting to see what the new upright is like, if its a major improvement I will buy one. If not, I will look to other brands for a sealed upright system that is better constructed and quieter.

I simply can't believe hearsay. Miele fans are known for thier fantastical claims. To hear many Miele fans tell it, thier machines vacuum by themselves while making no noise at all, washes thier car, feeds the dog, and rocks thier baby to sleep. I know Miele's filtration is Grade A Excellent but the sheer notion that they capture all dirt is simply an impossibility. Miele cannot suspend the laws of physics. Any porous surface will allow some dirt to pass through. If Miele's bags were perfect, there would be no need for further filtering media. Home Care Industries tests thier bags using real world and laboratory means. They are among the highest filtering bags on the market. Many other companies use thier bags branded to thier machines. I've never heard or seen with my own eyes an Electrolux/Aerus machine that was blowing dust. If that were the case, they would clog and be trashed like crazy. Aerus and Electrolux uprights are not "sealed" for sure but the Platinum canister is and has been proven beyond the shadow of doubt to be sealed. I'm sure the Platinum upright that will eventually come will be similar, they always are.

Thank you

Christopher I didn`t want to get into Miele again but EVERY Miele I have owned had dust in the bag chamber and for what ever reason they always make the dirt in the bags smell and no other vacuum I own smells when I use them .

I own 2 of the newest Aerus Guardian uprights and not one leaks air like Georges does . Spending that type of money George that is totally unacceptable and you need to demand they look at your machine . Every upright I have purchased for my family and friends I have checked and it`s about 35 in total and I have looked at them all and 34 have no dust in bag chambers 1 did have a little but she was using a generic bag nor did they blow air from the bottom of the machines .

Yes, if I were him I would trade it in on a Miele upright if I wasn't happy. My Mom's Kirby smells after a while when the bag begins to fill, but it doesn't smell as bad as the 2 Eureka Bosses we had when I was home. Aerus' double HEPA should make a killer upright if they ever get it out to the public.

Lux Platinum Bags

I am using the new bags that Aerus sent me in my Platinum, and so far there is no fine dust in the bag chamber.BUT I still am having the issue of the cardboard bag top is still pulling in and getting bent. But still I have no dust in the bag chamber. And I am surprised that the machine packs those bags like cement and still has lots of suction. And as far as the Lux Gaurdian upright goes mine is only a year old and it blows air out of the bottom where the cord goes into the powernozzle. But I still like it. Now I just have to use it more... LOL Dan

Thank you thermokid...

The newer all white Guardian Uprights (2009-now) have the air leak problem out of the base near the cord. Its an overlooked flaw- lack of quality control testing before it leaves the plant. What percentage have this issue- I don't know. Like I said the machine works, but that air out of the bottom is prior to the HEPA filter, so its not 99.97%. Furthermore, if you use the upright on hardwood floors with suction only the air escaping at the base actually scatters debris and dust. At the cost of the machine, Its not up to par.

Electromatik- According to the Aerus and Miele websites: Home solutions bags capture 94%, Miele AirClean bags capture 99.5% Outside of maybe the Platinum canister, Miele takes the cake when it comes to filtration.

George

From all your negative comments about Aerus and all your high praises about Miele your brand of upright should only be Miele . Heck you should even work for Miele you sure make a great Miele spokesman and I believe you would do very well selling them . Had I have not been a Authorized Miele dealer in the past and know the machines inside and out I would really want to buy a Miele from your sales pitches.

If my Aerus vacuums were leaking as yours are there would be no way I would just accept it like you have . Your machine has a problem and you should demand to have it fixed . Aerus is an awesome company and has been in business for 89 years and their customer service is top notch they would NEVER just tell someone oh well that's how it is they would fix it even if they had to pick it up from your local Aerus dealer and ship it back to their engineering department it would be fixed without a doubt. I have been dealing with them for over 30 years and they always stand by their products .

Good luck and pursue the repair of your defective machine

Dan

Hey I am not selling anything here, just stating fact...I don't defend any specific brand... Miele isn't perfect either, but just because your machine doesn't leak doesn't mean other peoples do not. I have tried just about every route to address this issue with them. I could probably do a better job in the engineering department...Here is one of your earlier posts:

Just got my bags and HEPA filter this morning will try it out later this week and let you guys know .

I did notice the new bags are made in China they used to be made here at the Aerus factory in the good ole USA .

Maybe that is why people on this board are having issues with the bag caving in under pressure...its made in $%(#*@ China!
