Looking for a modern daily driver

So i'm looking for a modern vac to use as my daily driver. Any recommendations?

An upright is what i'm looking for. Preferably under £100. Keeping in mind there's 2 cats (one long haired the other short) and 3 people.[this post was last edited: 6/25/2015-11:24]

I would recommend this Panaosnic. It performs well, ahs a decent brushbar, bagged obviously, sturdy build quality and is inexpensive.

Yeah iv'e seen them before not really my cup of tea. Iv'e used one before and they feel too lite to me as if they aren't doing the job.

Keep in mind: any vacuum cleaner that cost less than $150 will most likely be in the dumpster before 3 years of normal use.

I want a brand new machine rather than used. If it was used I might as well just use a vintage vacuum.

You're only options for bagged uprights under £100 are Panasonic or Hoover Purepowers, the latter of which are pretty awful.

A Henry would be a good for a cylinder, if that's what you're looking for. If you can stretch your budget, Sebo and Miele are great if you want bagged. Dyson if you want bagless.

Iv'e already got a Henry ( HVR-200-A2 )

Thats just it I would defiantly go for Dyson if my budget would stretch that far, but it won't at the moment.

If you want bagless, I would say Dyson is the best really, they are well built, perform good, easy to use, last long, the cyclones actually work properly, vax cyclones might look the same but they aren't on patch of the Dyson cyclones. We have had most Dysons from Dc01 to DC41 except the DC11, 15, 16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,26 and the handhelds and that digital slim stuff

Manchestervacs sell refurbished Dysons with new motors and parts and that, they are like new, like why buy new when you can get used at a fraction of the cost, the only difference is a few scratches but they get cleaned out with all parts checked and cleaned 100% and that. They are the best dyson dealer and aren't overpriced

£179 Dyson DC40 multifloor manufacturer refurbished with 2 year guarantee and tools, you can't go wrong they came out in 2012 and have quite stiff bristles. This is good for pet hair and can be used on all floor, but has no turbo brush but hey, the suction on this is good. If you like you can get a turbo brush from ebay

The DC40 is a full sized Dyson, but is lighter than a normal upright, can be lifted with one hand and it's a joy to use. I actually hated it till I got it, and honestly it's a good machine, even though its the older type which isn't as good as the new 700w ones

Honestly, my 6 year old dc 18, not a favorite I have heard with many, has been a great daily driver, nothing has ever broken! Not a deep cleaner, but makes life so easy for me. But everyone and their needs is different. Good luck

The newer ones clean much better and have more airflow
British homes tend to have thinner carpets which is a benefit when using something like an older Dyson, if it's a newer Dyson on a thick pile carpet, then very good (Y)

I don't think you can go far wrong with those Vax Air cleaners, especially the new ones. It's a bargain at £89.99. Multi cycloning, lightweight, stretch hose, 6 year guaruntee and the brushroll on the new models is very impressive - really makes the dirt bounce!

The only drawback is the cyclone isn't as efficient as a Dyson, so the filter requires more frequent cleaning, but this is reflected in the cheaper cost.
