Why I PERSONALLY dislike X and Y brands

Right then seeing people apparently want to know why I dislike or am not too keen on such brands I shall say why - (Although again yes it will probably be twisted as per usual)

Miele - I've changed my mind about this one alot,now again not my personal cup of tea on the looks,yes I know don't judge a book by it's cover. I'm not saying that just because it isn't my cup of tea on the looks i'm not saying its rubbish. It does look a good machine for performance. Would I still use one? Absolutely.

Sebo - I do like the looks,but again for me it does look a bit blocky,i'm not saying its rubbish though. It does look a good performer. Would I use one? Yes.

Dyson - Again I don't like the older ones. Sorry but I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. The newer ones - I do like the ball ones. They have taken my fancy quite a bit and i'm planning on getting one in the future sometime. Yes anyone who knows me well enough will know that I used to strongly dislike Dyson.

There. Now if anyone wants to know more, the just simply ask me.

Hope that clears everything up. Just to put it clearly,it may not be my cup of tea but I would defiantly use them.
 
What is this constant thinking that you have that people are twisting what you're saying? Have you thought for just one minute that maybe it's you? Maybe you need to be clearer with what you're saying and that people are just struggling to interpret what it is that you actually mean?

Now that's not a contradiction, is it? Either you think it's too blocky, or you don't. Since when was something being "just a bit" anything grounds to dismiss it completely? It if's "just a bit", then surely it can't be that much of a problem.

I honestly find it baffling how anyone could think that the Sebo looks so blocky that it's unappealing but a Turbopower 1, one of the blockiest looking vacuums ever made with barely any shape or contour too it, doesn't suffer from this problem?

So, let me get this straight, you've made a judgement on a vacuum that you've never used based on how it looks? God, if that were the rule, Dyson would've never made a penny! How do you know either way what it's like if you've never used it before? Yes, you could hate it. But equally, you could absolutely love it. You'll never know until you try these things.

I mean, in this thread alone, you've dismissed both Sebo and Panasonic vacuums with no real reason. Would it be a shorter list to just ask what IS "your cup of tea" instead of wading through vacuums trying to find something that you think is visibly appealing and seem to think there is some sort of link between looks and performance?

You could always take a trip to your local vacuum shop to try some stuff out? John Lewis, Currys and Euronics will all usually let you have a test on the shop floor. </strong>

Right, ok, so from your above post Emma, that's given us some idea's to play with now, thanks for that. And I'm sorry if I sound like I'm being harsh, but it's quite frustrating to sit and watch as people make suggestions that seem to fit what you're looking for, for you to then bash them away for seemingly no reason or because you don't like the look of them.

Out of interest, why the sudden change of heart on Miele and Dyson? They're probably 2 of the most respected brands out there at the moment, what was it that you didn't find appealing and what made you change your mind?

Anyone on here can offer you advice on what to buy, but at the end of the day, only you can make the decision and it's only after the trawl through electrical websites, watching YouTube video's and reading reviews that you'll reach a decision. Whatever you buy, there is an element of risk to it I suppose. Personally, I kind of like the risk. It's exciting using something I've never used before :).

Here's a video for the Sebo X series that you might find useful. It's an oldie, but a classic. It used to be on the Sebo website, showing the features of the X series. They've been updated since, but the principal is the same. Hope this helps

It's fine. You weren't it was me at the end of the day. (Or night rather)

For Dyson originally (I know..I can feel the eyes rolling and the sighing!) It was the looks..I know.. Plus with the earlier ones, it was they seemed a touch noisy,well loud, for my liking. I know iv'e never used one before,but plenty of neighbours had them lol.
It was more out of ignorance for not properly looking at them. After seeing more videos on them they don't seem bad. Plus more the ball ones, they've just grown on me quite a bit. Iv'e got to admit they do look nice.

As for Miele - Kind of the same thing. What iv'e said above. Just minus the noise.

Looking back,yes I should of put what I liked and disliked.

Yeah in the UK, when those appeared in the U.S they were priced near to £150 / $236

They're hardly cheap, sadly. They were sold under the Sanitaire label. Sometimes they come up on EBAY UK but very rare now.

But then I stand corrected - here we go. Still, its £115 plus £35 for delivery, so there we go again, £150.
