Very groovy in a Brady Bunch kind of way, Tom--thanks!
Do you have all the attachments--including the white hose with trios of teal/gold/teal tracers? If not Jimmy Martin (rugsucker) may have them--I know he had one or two of the hoses a couple weeks ago.
Also, have you thought about collecting sets of Electrolux machines like me? This is what I consider a set:
(1961-1988: aqua Model G era to Model 1521/Marquise era)--not sure if Model G was launched in October 1960 or April 1961. The 50th anniversary plate states 1961, but I have also seen 1960 in other places).
1. standard cleaner (e. g. Model 1205 J/Golden J w/PN-2 w/50th Jubilee decal and ivory attachments)
2. budget cleaner (e. g. gold Model L w/PN-2 and ivory attachments)
3. turbo rug washer/floor polisher (gold and ivory) (1962 and on)
4. Model B-7 (aqua w/late Model Rs, early aqua Model Gs, and early ivory Model Ls)
5. Model B-8 Carpet Beautifier/Buffer (e. g. gold)--mid-Model Gs to mid-Model 1505/Silverados or Models B-9, B-10, & 1522 (late Model 1505/Silverados and on)
6. Model CA commercial cleaner (early and mid Model Gs, early and mid Model Ls)
7. Model CB commercial cleaner (e. g. gold top) --late Model Gs to mid Model 1505/Silverados--These are more rare and quite expensive when they are found, so I'm not planning on collecting them. (CB2000 - 1983-1988)
8. upright cleaner--Model 1363 (yellow-gold) late Model 1401/Super Js; Model 1363 (tan)--Model 1401/Olympia One; Model 1451s (tan) Models 1401-B, 1505/Olympia Ones; Model 1451s (gray)--Model 1505/Silverados; Model 1451 Es (sand) early and mid Model 1521/Diamond Js; Models 1500, 1500 C, 1572 E/Discovery IIs (late Model 1521/Diamond Js to Model 1521/Marquises)
9. Vaporizer and Sprayer (through 1205 or 1205 J?)
And, in the gold-colored era, since there were two standard gold-colored cleaners, I'd include the 1401/Super J.
I'd also include the Model GHs (hospital versions) with the Model Gs, but they too are quite rare.
* * * * * * * * *
(1952-1961: Model LX era to Model R* era)
1. Vaporizer & Sprayer
2. Garment bag (Model LX and Model LXI through model Model AE or F?)
3. Model B-6 Floor Scrubber/Polisher (Models LX, LXI, E, AE, T)--not sure exactly when these were first manufactured
4. Model B-7 Floor Scrubber/Polisher (gray-w/Model F and early Model R)
5. Polisher & Scrubber (hammertone blue through Model E)
6. Turb-O-Tool w/Rug Washer (beginning Model AE--changed from hammertone blue to ivory w/Model F)
*Model Rs actually straddled two eras as they were the budget model with the late Model Fs and early Model Gs. So, the early ones had the gray and ivory attachments, and the later ones had the teal and ivory attachments (interestingly, the hose tracer colors never changed; they were always gray and teal. Some have thought that was a hint that the Model G was on its way, but the Model F's hoses also had gray and teal tracers albeit in a different pattern, so that rationale is unlikely). They were discontinued in 1963 and were replaced with the Model Ls.
Come to think of it, I'm also wondering if you have the complete set of attachments for your Kirby DS-50? I am not as familiar with Kirbys, but I don't think they made budget models that matched their standard models; and their shampooers/polishers were/are attached to the cleaners)
