Kirby Diamond BPI light...

I am trying to clean up a very dirty Kirby Diamond for a friend and also replace the bag, brushroll and belt.  The floor nozzle is exceptionally dirty and is full of gross dirty carpet fuzz, hair and other gross matter. 


 


What I want to know is: is it safe to wash the floor nozzle in a sink with soapy water?


Will doing so damage the BPI light in the nozzle?

Personally

I myself have washed a few kirby cleaner heads and they have all been just fine, its not really electrical more of a current caused by the rotating pins on the brush roll, here is my Diamond possibly my favourite kirby, good luck with you friends

I have washed a nozzle with the BPI light on before, but I prefer to take it off (along with the belt lifter assembly) to really get all the dirt and gunk out. That's gonna be your best bet for a thorough cleaning.

Have cleaned mine intact, but not submerged in water. Not that tough to remove it however.

Remove the screw holding the light and then clean it.
My G4 has a BPI light that doesn't work at all.

the BPI light comes off with a Philips screw driver the screw is behind the bumper
