Great stuff Seamus.

It looks superb - immaculate even.

Great to have the instruction manual etc too.

Wonderful that another model of cleaner has a well preserved UK representative.

Have fun.

Hello!
This is probably the rarest version of mod U 7008, I have never seen one in my life, congratulations on this wonderful find!

Cheers Guys :)

Paul

I never realised this model existed till I saw this on Ebay -I think it will stay unused(although it will take a Turbopower paper bag so that may change....).

Tommy

I guess I was surfing at the right time - it was a buy it now -so I did!

Now that's a great buy, really nice.. I wouldn't use it either. Just plug it in to run up off the floor I would.

Yo Seamus!

So that machine is all original?? Wild. Looks like it has a dirt tube muffler, like the US Conquest upright. Those machines arent too loud and with that muffler it would be even quieter.

About that outer bag: I ordered a NOS Hoover bag made of that same material not too long ago. When i opened it, i noticed it had a very odd odor. When i slid the top off for the first time it tore very easily. The bag had dry rot allover. The threads would turn to dust when rubbed between my fingers. I hope your bag is much stronger!

Its amazing that this machine was produced until the end of the 80s!

:)

David

You were on of the Hoover Commercial fans I was refering to lol ;).

Yup its all original as it left the factory- the instructions refer to that bag setup etc.

The bag is fine- that sucks about your NOS one, maybe it had been stored somewhere where it had picked the rot up :(

Ive attached the link to the auction, although it was listed as new I wasnt convinced, but it was just dirt :). It had possibly been stored in a garage going on the small ammount of rust on the baseplate but ive sorted that :).

Oh the seller agreed to post it thankfully otherwise I wouldnt have been lucky enough to get it .

That is a beautiful commercial model indeed. Love the colors! I'm astounded a machine with this much steel was still available 20 years ago. By stark contrast here in the states we already had the Hoover Elites. Seems like U.K. got to hold onto the better models for a longer period of time. IIRC, the Dial-A-Matic/Convertible was available over there up until 1989 as well. A full 10 years after being discontinued here.

Yup.......

It was kinda obvious lol- the bag slide fits on the INNER`bag - looks so much better :). Obviously it stays in place if you use a paper bag !

Very nice machine.

What type of agitator does it use? Can you show a pic?

At the time, you could purchase a different brushroll, known as '4-brush groomer' for low-profile carpeting.

Brushroll

Hey Calum

It has the standard 2 brush/beater bar agitator. You are quite correct there is an all brush unit mentioned in the manual specially for carpet tiles/short pile and stuck down carpet(I have one somewhere).

Seamus

P.S The rust has been sorted :)

Oh the Wattage.....

Forgot to say I was told Hoover changed the way they measured the wattage but its the same performance as the earlier 400W versions.

I know this is the wrong place so sorry, but.....

I have to make a comment.....

Seamus.....

your A3308 Computer Control 1100 looks in great nick!
Please, please post a piccy of this wonder of 1980's Merthyr Tydfill!

Still loving the C1312 - piccies now in my library for future reference, should i ever do a Hover Commercial spreadsheet!

Cheers

One for Paul..

Hey Mate

Apparently 100ml of Dixan and my summer single duvet got a bit foamy ......

I need to get some touch up paint for under the door ;)

Thanks for the pics and info (I wonder how Hoover can measure Wattage differently? I always thought that it was Voltage multiplied by Current).

Paul: feel free to mention the Hoover washer.

SeamusUK: Was it you who mentioned on some other thread, that I should tell you if I got a box of Dixan from the Co-Op? If so, then yes, I did; for £8.00. I've still to open the box though.

oh my God!

Hello, today I went to my mother's house where I keep my vacuum cleaners collection. She kindly asked me to go and pick her up at the switzerland custom as she had been spending the weekend there. Well whene her friend opened his bentley's luggage compartment he smiled and said"this is for you child!"
A wonderful Hoover U 7008 he found in a closet in his office. After realizing it was mine and appreciating that at 29 someone still dares to call me child I picked it upand ran fastly home!
It works wonderfully , I'll try and post somepictures as soon as I can as I don't have my camera with me. it is gorgeous because the man found in the clset also the original while the cleaner has sometime been fitted with a genuine grey smaller bag with top fillin tube for paper bags!
I'm really happy tonight!
tommy

:)

Hey Tommy

Thats great !

Look forward to seeing the top fill setup- I will take a better pic of this one later, the bag flange is plastic and screws to the chassis.
Maybe your U7008 is the same??
