I'm new here, I was responding to someone who was interested in buying a rainbow and I wanted to comment because I just got one!
So if anyone has any tips or tricks with this, let me know. I also have a Kirby, but I mainly use that for a carpet washer. It is too much of a drag to take the front end on and off. Looking forward to chatting with everybody and getting some good information!

I have a Heritage II and I believe I have some of the carpet upholstery cleaning utensils. I would never use them because with my asthma, I cannot have carpeting.

Kirby's are not for everyone, I love them while others hate them.
I bought my Heritage II in 1984, had one repair until this year when the motor just stopped. Replaced that whole unit with a used one off of Ebay, and now the fan degraded and that is where I am right now with it. I will fix it and try to get it all working again. I will change the brushes while doing that. I love my Kirby and you could not find a more durable machine in my experience. I mean, how many can be used daily for 40 years?? I find it amazing. I paid close to $600 when I bought it. Yes, it was expensive back then, but that would be $15 a year. Cheap.

I hope you can get it running. I usually suggest new carbons and fans etc every 15-20 years.
Well, my original 40 year old unit had the fan replaced many years ago, and, at that time, I had them put new brushes (carbons) in too. So you are right on that, from my personal experience. When I get a new fan installed, I will take those brushes out of my original motor that I hoped would fix the problem, and put them into this one. And, 'fingers crossed' hope it still runs okay. I love my Kirby and would really hate to give it up. For me, it is so easy to use because the handle height is perfect. No bending over. Every other vacuum has handles too low for me to be comfortable.
