It appears that in Canada filterqueen has a new model, the "elite". It looks quite slick to me. It will be the same machinery inside I suppose. They also sell a thing called the "aqua defender" which appears to be a water filter.

Reading the website the only change I can see with the "Elite" ( hey, isn't that a Kenmore canister vacuum ? ) is a claim to coat the inside of the bucket with something they say prevents growth of microbes. Sure thing. Ten years from now will that coating still work?

My Nana's majestic 360 was advertised with that. That machine is 20 years old now. The only real difference is the two speed switch and the cheaper motor. Other than that they are the same thing.

Was hers lacking a 2 speed switch? I feel like all door to door model have had them at least back to the model 31 possibly even before that. The offshoot models like the princess and optima were lacking them.
I do think you're correct about the MicroBX coating, pretty sure I've seen that advertised before now.

My nana's just has a single speed switch. It might to specific to NZ though.

The difference isn't just a different switch. The motors are different. F-Q two speed motors have four or five wires depending on whether or not it has a bag ( bin ? ) full indicator. The motors are like those old 2-speed Kenmores that had five wires. The switch is a dual pole, dual throw switch that switches the field between parallel and series.

Yes I'm aware the motors were different Phil, I've had a princess II open before which was super basic and just used a 2 wire motor. I was just pointing out how strange it was for a model to not have one of the two speed switches, aside from the retail models....Until I got a reminder that the machine in question was overseas.

Eh it's ok, I make little mistakes all the time too. It is like how an Electrolux d720 has a switch and a lead switch on each side. Then a long comes the d735 and later models which introduced a board and lots of wires. Interesting they didn't just leave it as it was.
