Electrolux Generic vs OEM hoses question

I just looked and do not see hoses either, but you can use their dealer locator on their website. The one in Richmond Virginia has youtube videos. He is called Rifleman Ray (Ray Satterwaite)not sure I spelled that correctly. I know the dealer I used gets his machines through him, as that is where mine came from. I am sure he can help with whatever you need.

Nah, I'll just make the 60 mile journey to the dealer and call first, of course. Who knows...he might have some older Lux's he took in on trade(if Aerus does that kinda thing).

If the HESCO hose fits properly, you're not even going to know it's a bad hose for a yr or so...then a split or worse. You get what you pay for in aftermarket hoses these days.

Josh, that generic hose I linked to WILL work with your Super J. If you had looked around on that website at the other hose parts, you will see the machine end is removable & they offer 2 types of electric metal hose ends that fit that hose. All you would do is order the hose, have the vac shop remove the machine end with a heat gun, & then order the correct metal machine end to make the hose work with the Super J.

As for the Perfect hoses, I have owned two before for my plastic bodied canisters, & my opinion is they are complete junk! The screw holes in the handle strip easily, the suction relief valve starts to wiggle around & make the vacuum lose suction, & the PN Receptacle shorts out easily. They are by far the worst generic Electrolux hose available, & in my opinion best avoided. The one that Josh bought from Hesco is far superior in quality & performance. I have one with my Grand Marquise, & I like it. If only it were a little bit longer....

That IS weird! The only thing I can figure out is that they don't want to list the more expensive items, because each dealer has his/her own variable pricing.

That's the main concern I have with Aerus. I don't understand why it doesn't have set prices on all merchandise. Sure, it's good for sales to have variable pricing; but it's unfair to consumers. It raises a red flag of ethics in my mind.

Yes, Aerus does take trade-ins. Why wouldn't they? It's their way of minimizing or eliminating the possibility of returns. So recent buyers decide a day or two after the sale that they don't want to keep their new cleaner and want their old one back along with their refund. Too bad for them, because it has already been discarded (or so they're told). So they decide to keep the new cleaner after all.

In addition, they often take the old accessories for the same reason. I can imagine that some of them are used for parts or replacements and sold to other consumers either as gently used or new if they're in good shape.

Those things said, I'm sure honest, reputable Aerus dealers exist, too, who would return the old cleaners and tools if buyers chose not to keep the new ones. And, they would either sell the used accessories at low cost or even give them to customers as a kindness. They are the ones who'd get my repeat business and whom I'd recommend to others.
 
Today's Adventure...

So I found 2 shops to order the hose I want. One was very reasonable, great customer service. I will be calling them Wed. The other took and hour to call me back and had marked the identical hose up by $40 before tax and shipping. I passed but then called back to talk to the same guy...owner to clarify was that a quote for 1 or 2 hoses. He said one. So I commented that that was a big mark up, his excuse was it was for time and freight charges. I asked, "Freight"...you mean you are passing on the cost of doing business, ie. a phone call to order the part and shipping to you on to me?
He snipped, "I don't thing we are going to be able to help you and I appreciate the opportunity" then just hung up.
I reported him to the company who referred him to me. Thought they should know.

Thanks, Rob! Missed that one the other day when I was searching hoses. Offered him a little less and he took it. 


 


I also bought a later 1205 factory hose that was vinyl. Had the teal accents on the handle, so I'm assuming it's correct. Seller said it had full suction on the end of the hose. I'll keep that one for the 1205 I need to restore and send the hose that Rob linked, to my son in Brooklyn. I'll check it out first though. I told my son to look for old-style Ma&Pa vacuum stores there. He's trying to tell me he only found one in Brooklyn and one in Manhattan....neither store carried HEPA 'C' bags. Said both stores were dirty and weirdly staffed. I can only imagine how many Ma&Pa vacuum stores there used to be in the city.  Hell, we still have two in this small town. 


 


He's not the most resourceful young adult in the world, so maybe he's missing some stores. He's quite happy to live with the split hose and duct tape, but I'm not. His GF I guess, takes the floor brush immediately off the floor and starts vacuuming the two sofas they have. Complains about the dog hair still on the sofas. She doesn't understand that you should suction off the residual dog hair on the brush BEFORE you use it on the sofas. I sent them a nice upholstery brush(not a Lux).  My sons says it's faster and more efficient to use the floor brush....I told him maybe, but you're bringing the floor germs up to your sofas. He doesn't seem to be concerned. So it goes.......
