Electrolux Generic vs OEM hoses question

None of.....

my aftermarket hoses have leaked in my possession. However, I sent my DD 1205 back to my son in Brooklyn with a somewhat used aftermarket hose. He says the hose split and he taped it.

The issue now is with the chroming and the actual diameter/fit of the hose end into your floor wands, PN and accessories like the Sidekick. Plus the hoses that pivot are very roughly made to pivot....you can take them apart and grease with dielectric grease to some gain. I find the quality of the aftermarket hoses has declined since the late 90's. My guess is that it's the 'Chinese' factor.

Care to share the exact link that hose came from?

I just picked up a Diamond Jubilee with a nice looking aftermarket hose. Fit and finish seem just fine on it. The machine end has brass contacts and it connects and disconnects easily. The handle end rotates freely connects easily to the wand and my Sidekick. Like my other generic hose, it powers the Sidekick just fine. The vinyl hose material feels more pliable than the OEM vinyl. I'm not sure whether that's a good, bad or neutral thing. Time will tell, I suppose. If it doesn't last, no problem. At least I didn't pay $69.99 for it like the previous owner did. Yeah, the price tag from a local vacuum shop is still on the handle and the product description on the tag says "Electrolux Hose Super J" but the color scheme looks more Silverado-ish to me. The best part is I paid one seventh that much for the whole machine.

Good snag. As I said earlier, I've had no problems with aftermarket hoses from the 90's and early 2000's.  It's the more recent stuff that has gone to the dogs(Chinese).

The only $125 OEM hose I've found for Electrolux canisters has been for the 2100. I've yet to see a OEM Electrolux hose for say, the Super J and previous iterations.

While idly mousing around the Web last night I made an interesting discovery on the Web page for the Perfect canisters. The hose that came with the Diamond J I bought last week seems to be identical to those that ship with the Perfect metal canisters, which could help explain its build quality relative to other generic hoses.

Interesting....I found The Perfect Canister Vacuum at a couple of places, including Amazon. But other than ask, I don't see a way to buy just the hose?

For the Perfect hoses you need the Perfect part numbers, sites will not mention it is a Perfect hose

for Electrolux metal canisters (1205, super J, etc) it is:
PART NO.
EH8100W - WHITE
EH8100SG - GREY

for the Electrolux plastic canisters with the V-notch hose (2100 models & similar) it is:
PART NO.
EH8102W - WHITE
EH8102SG - GREY

I had a Perfect Canister once and I think if you get one you will find a sidekick will not fit it. For some reason their electric hose connection will not fit into a genuine Electrolux sidekick, the electric connection is longer and therefore cannot make the electrical connection.

With that said, I got mine when it first came out, perhaps they were made aware of the problem and corrected it since then... Just my 2 cents.

I don't know for sure the replacement hose that I got with my Diamond J is the same one that comes with a Perfect metal canister but it sure looks the same as the ones on the Perfect Web site. It powers my genuine SideKick just fine so either Perfect (or more likely their supplier) perfected the hose or mine isn't really a Perfect hose or more to the point, it's too perfect to be a Perfect hose (sorry, I couldn't resist those puns).

That....

evacuumstore hose is the exact one and the place I bought from this summer. It had the chrome coming off and it wasn't until the chrome was all taken off, would it fit the PN wand and the Sidekick. Could be a lot of reasons, but I'd be foolish to try that again.

That's why I keep asking for a link to the older style(from the 1205 FWD), OEM hoses at supposedly $125.

You could order one from aerushome.com, and they'd charge you shipping/handling.

It's possible, too, that the Aerus store 60 miles away from you would have a service/sales rep. delivery it to you. However, you may need to agree to a sales demo.

Yeah, I've been in that site before and couldn't find hoses. Bags, filters, a few parts and floor care products. I give them a C grade for their site...pretty sparse and bland.

I'll call the store 60 miles away and see what they say. For now, I may just buy a used factory hose off eBay for my son's 1205 in Brooklyn. See if there is something non-fabric floating around on the bay. His hose was aftermarket and seemed fine here. Normally, I'd blame him for the split, but after the debacle this summer with the evacuumstore replacement hose, I'm not so sure.

Aerus has a newer website (I'm not sure when it was redone, but it was sometime in 2016)--I wonder if you used it or the previous one? In the upper right hand corner is the "Online Store" tab. You should be able to find hoses there.
