They still are the days if you can find one for sale that hasn't been used for mile after mile without oil changes, as many seem to be.

I will take my heavy fuel consumption any day thanx. Its comfy big powerfull and above all safe. A friend of mine was in the same car when he was hit on the driver side by a ford explorer. He climbed out afer forcing the drivers door open the Explorer driver had to be CUT out.

I will however say that I managed to do significant damage to my sl ( profile pic ) after reversing MY range rover ,,, over it nose  ,, in my garage ,,,, it still started though I should be getting it back tomorrow from the panel shop

Yes but the problem is Jamie, the 1997 models were all used by learner schools, most have been abused and the "cheaper' ones with better warranties are the Mazda 121. I looked at that model when I was changing up from my old Mk2. The next Fiesta up from that is a lot safer, more comfortable and as economical.

I'm not sure about the current version though - for the size I may as well change up to a Focus.

Like Gareth says, I HATE small cars. I bought a Toyota Aygo and Fiesta Zetec S, both brand new. Didn't get on with them. Give me a big gas guzzler anyday. I love my old 800, it cost me £600 with tax and mot, has leather, digital climate control, electric everything, heated seats, 4 speed auto, memory seats etc etc. I've covered around 20k in it in just under 2 years and its been a 100% reliable. I love it to bits. Prior to that I had a 620Ti which was just as good.

I can remember when I had a subwoofer the size of a full size car tyre in the boot of my car, and mags, big mags , way to big for the car mags  , and spoilers ,and enough spotlights to light a small city ,,, I cringe when i look back now

"and enough spotlights to light a small city"

I recall a 2CV I saw on the web years ago that had about 20 or 30 spotlights fitted to the front.... :P

Oh, here we go, 30 additional lights fitted on a 2CV6... :P

(and no, I don't know why he did it, he just "did")

Vorwerk 136 System

Hey Guys,

As my Vorkerk 136 got mentioned yesterday I thought I would upload a pic of my system.

I use this as my daily vacuum for quick pickups round the house. Mainly because its so light. Also, as I have the Polilux PL515 head its great for my quarry tiles in my kitchen.

Cheers,

Dickie. :o)

I really hope you don't drive around in that 800 with the fog lamps on all the time! That is one of my pet hates for drivers. It is mostly BMW drivers that do that.

It seems to be the way to go, Mr Murray. I can't say I like it either. What did make me chuckle was when I went on a coach trip recently to an out of town shopping centre with some of the other residents in my building. A small car roared straight past us, and when I say roar do I mean roar, with two young gentlemen in the front seats looking mighty pleased with themselves. I do think they possibly thought they were a sight to behold. In contrast, the message they sent out was somewhat in contradiction to the image I expect they hoped to portray, and the lady in front of me, one of our younger members, muttered "What a pair of" and used a term which I can't print here, other than to say we all own one. At least I hope we all do. I did chuckle.

The funniest part came though when they got stuck behind a car in the lane to our right, who wanted to do a right turn and was holding the traffic back until such time they could do so. It reminded me of a time when I saw a car which was so badly designed that it was almost sitting on the road as it was so low, making it impossible for the driver to get over a speed bump he'd come up against. I did pity that driver, especially when a group of young ladies in short skirts walked past and pointed at him and laughed.

I'm sure I can think of a few guesses as to what she said about them!

Just today we were out and a blue Citroén Saxo (it could only be that though, eh ?) which was almost scraping the ground, had those inane bumpers that protruded from the sides and the tyres were so "low profile" that they probably only held 1 PSI at the maximum flew past. Well, sped to be specific. If it did fly I may have shown some interest.

As I expected, at the wheel was a lad who looked just out of short trousers, with sun glasses on (it was raining) and listening to "boom boom" music, as I call it.

Needless to say I was glad to be in the Ford Fiesta with Roy Orbison in the cassette player.

The youth of today, it never ceases to amaze me.

I may be 16 myself, but I have very different views to most people my age.
