I asked this on another forum, and a guy said he'd found the same terminal
crimps on an old Kenwood Chef (only a week ago, by coincidence)

Looks like it's more of a period thing than a Hoover thing.

These ends were probably machine-installed on the flex to assist in manufacturing assembly of the machines.

Probably in the same way that the other end of the flex (the 'plug' end) had those little straight brass crimped sleeves. Apparently these were for factory testing purposes only; the user was supposed to cut 'em off before wiring on a plug. This was in the days of plugless appliances. Some audio appliances had soldered ends on the flex.

Sometime I had to put generic belt. it works last long time (6 months)
Once, I tryied to put a larger Hoover 612 belt on Hoover 652, it still works well.

In Europe, this is not too difficult to get Hoover belts, some stores have stock but the price is expensive... about 10€ for a pack of two.

I try to only use Genuine Hoover belts, but am running low now, down to the last few packs of unopened belts for various machines that I want to keep in the packet.

I know Quatex had a bad batch of belts a few years ago. I ordered a few, and 4 out of the 10 sets snapped fairly quickly. Apparently this was resolved, and the last few batches (in the new style packaging) have been fine.

I hope so, I bought 20 sets of Turbopower 1 belts to keep me stocked up for a while! And a few junior/senior belts. Need more 375 size, had to use my last one on a vax 121 bag holder!

I always pick up packs of genuine belts for anything I own from ebay if I happen upon them at a cheap price.

Got a genuine pack of bags for my Sensotronic from the car boot the other weekend for £2, handy as I didnt have any, and the bag inside is manky. I did ask if they had any other bits for it and theyvsay theybdidnt even know where the bags came from" which was a shame!

Every Thursday, I go through my regular

'haunts' in the Philadelphia burbs. Any time I see genuine Hoover belts or bags, or even tools, I usually grab them. I figure, if I don't have that machine, I know someone who does.
I've gotten genuine Hoover Dial-A-Matic belts, (2 still in the original package), for $1.00...bags (in sealed package..$1.00 or $.95. How could you pass them up? well, I guess some could.
You never know what you're going to find.
John
