lol just like Electrolux, i'm sure theres 100's of different Exclusives and rogue models that are still to be discovered. Thats what makes it fun! That green Turbopower autoflex does sound random though.

Just gave the Powerplus it's maiden run around the living room, it's a beast!!

Yep!

Hi,I can remember the green Turbopower with autoflex having the name Hoover on the plug.It would of been good if they had gave me the machine after they had finished with it. She gave me her panasonic upright once she had finished with that. Then again that was still working when she gave it me.

There was a burgundy Powerplus with a bag and headlight made exclusively for electricity boards. The only other two I know of are the ones shown in the brochure that Ryan posted.

I had the Powerplus with dustcup from brand new but I always wanted to get the bagged version but somehow never got round to buying one. The dustcup model was filthy to empty and lost its suction very quickly. To empty it you were supposed to unhook the bag and vigorously shake it so all the dirt clinging to the inside of it would fall into the dust cup. Even if you waited for the dust to settle, some dirt would always fall out onto the floor when you unclipped the dust cup. To get the suction back I also had to use another cleaner to vacuum the inside of the bag which defeated the object of having a so called bagless cleaner.

I believe the colour of the bagged Powerplus was rose white and mink which was also the colour used on the last U1104 Junior. It looks quite grey in the brochure, but I'm sure it was white.

Hi

Thanks Roger. It's nice to have confirmed there was a burgandy power plus as I've never seen one since about 1991 when I was on holiday.
I just would like to know what model the green tuebopower with autoflex was...

a little sneak peak...

Just finished this 1982 Moulinex Master too. It was filthy! but has surprised me at how nice it's come up. Just waiting for some new bellows, a headlamp bulb and a new cable and I'll be doing a video.

Hi

Ahh Ryan what a great Moulinex Master. I have a Moulinex Master that needs doing up.
It's in very poor shape. The handle is wrong as well...It's blue SCREAM! The bellows are cracked to.
Have you got a source for your Moulinex Master/Major Bulbs as there a strange voltage. 45 volts that's volts not wattage. I just wonder if you know where to get the correct bulbs???

James:o)

There is a way around of that light bulb problem. You just reconfigure the wiring so that the lamp holder is wired directly to the incoming 240V. My memory tells me that the Moulinex used a small brass & porcelain light fitting with the standard 220-240 v small bayonet cap fitment, despite being wired as a tap into the motor to use a bulb of much lower voltage.

James the green turbopower with autoflex sounds very much like the grey Electricity Board model, particularity as you say it had the Hoover plug. Thinking back to it carefully, was there a headlamp? You would not be the first to mistake the colour of this cleaner for green, as it was such a strange colour and liable to fade.

Also the bellows for the Moulinex, you can easily use a length of ordinary vacuum hose to do the job. Even with the original Moulinex bellows a lot of silicone sealant (the sort one would put around a bath is fine) to do the job properly.

I've got a friend with a stash of Moulinex bulbs which is handy so that solves that one. My mate ric has ordered 4 bellows from Amazon apparently. waiting for them to turn up or an email saying that they've been discontinued lol

Hi

Hi Benny, lol Yes I'm VERY sure it was NOT the Grey Turopower from the leccy board U2334 I believe. It was green like the U2332 and it had a headlight. It was exactly the same as the U2332 but had a cord rewind. As I said in the past I used it quite a few times when we went over to visit. I even had a green U2332 at one point at the same time my step mums mother had the green auto flex model,I just never thought to look at the model number or if I did I can't remember it. I am going back to 1989,90,91,92.

It certainly sounds like an exclusive line, James. Post 1990, Hoover made a good deal of different Turbopowers, many of which were exclusives. I had so many brought in for repair over the years that I stopped noticing all the variations! Of all models of any make sold in the UK since time began, I think the Turbopower has to be the number one for variations.

Out of interest, can you remember what the font was like on the lettering on the hood and bag door? Hoover did three different fonts that I can recall, and probably were even more.

Umm

Umm I can't remember the lettering on the hood or bag door. All I can remember is it was the same as the U2332 but with a cord rewind and the Hoover name on the plug.
I also loved the smell of the air freshener in the bag door:o)

Sorry to go off topic slightly but are the built in air fresheners in certain Vacuum Cleaners more effective than the tabs you can buy these days that are simply put in the bag ?

I buy "Pan Aroma" freshener tabs from my local Pound Shop and especially like the vanilla one, which smells more like coconut actually.

Ryry, your tumble dryer is going to end up in rehab at this rate. You ply it with liqour and then make it wear a laundry basket as a hat. Outrageous.

Ha ha, I did see those drinks and get a bit thirsty.

Keep buying all that alcohol and you'll have no money for Vacuum Cleaners!
