The power nozzle with my first D2 had the same holes.  I questioned whether they were really necessary but discovered after taping over them that on smooth-surfaced carpeting the nozzle clamped too tightly to the carpet and heavier sand/grit would rattle forever inside the nozzle....there wasn't...

A second thought.... Perhaps the carbon brushes are still "seating" themselves and shedding more.   Give it a little more time and then install a new filter and see if the buildup has slowed down.

The first Henry is an HVR 200.  The 850 watt (120 volt) single speed gets the job done but is a little too powerful for some dusting tasks even with the relief valve open.  This Henry was fitted with an outlet for an electric powernozzle (which I did not purchase)
