ZORBSTER

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Alex

Alex, we are giving you a break but other sellers would not care less where the money was coming from. To bid for fun is not fair on others who are bidding for that item.

Please bear in mind that if you decide to bid on any further items from me I will expect payment immediately and will not be entering into any second chance bids. Zero tolerance from here on in.

I don't want to spoil the excitement and the fantastic amount we raised tonight.

And tomorrow we have the DC01. I hope it does well as I have declined exorbitant offers to give everyone a fair shot at it. After tonight's Dyson performances I'm wondering if I've done the right thing...

And I SO want to unbox a Hoover bagged vacuum and see what you all love about it so much but its worth more than my Miele cylinder so I will have to stock with my Automatic TT5000.

Your right Steve but I set it like that because I was in work till 8 tonight as usual so didn't want to miss out have you never wanted something that much that you are tunnelled into what you are doing without even thinking about the consequences of what you are doing.

I think you should unbox one! You WILL need a new belt, but you would have a top vacuum!

You could have one on display in your shop. Leave all the promo stickers on it etc and have it as a conversation piece. Sure we could tell you what's worthless (if you know what I mean) and worth sacrificing.

Lucy --

The DC04 went for £264, which wasn't a bad price, I am bidding on the other DC04 Zorbster, but I will no doubt be outbid, as Josh has expressed an interest in it. I expect the DC01 to do very well, but ultimately you have to decide whether to pull the listings and sell privately. As you have seen - bids go crazy in the last few minutes, and there will be undoubtedly a lot of watchers on that DC01.

May I suggest that you always start the bidding at what you expect to get for each item, then if it doesn't sell, you will not have lost money on it. Starting items at a penny with no reserve can be a huge risk

Alex, one of the things you do as an adult is you learn to grow up, take account of your own actions, and act like the adult you are. Under the circumstances, I think the seller has been overly fair with your behavior. YOU have cost her a lot of her time in sorting this mess which YOU created for her. Frankly, I don't think you understand the half of this. I am amazed you still have the nerve to be talking about it so publicly.

JESUS CHRIST everyone give me a break I am sorry for what I did and don't dare think I had no intension of buying them...of course I did I would not purposely push the price up for everyone, I am not vain!

I think you are blowing this out of proportion and as I said I won't be doing it again. I understand we are all perfect then except me. Talk about patronising.

Alex - you have to learn that EBay is a real live auction - you are bidding real money, not monopoly money - its not a game. I suggest really that you don't bid for any more items from Cee Jay, to avoid overstretching yourself.

In all my ebay career, which has been since 2004, on all the ebay accounts I've had, I've never had a non paying bidder strike. Its simple. If I win the auction, I pay.

Madabouthoovers

I have taken all of your advice on board. You have not been wrong about a listing yet...

I will not pull anything. I said I'd list and listing it I am. Being messed around does make it less attractive but I'd like everyone to have a fair shot.

It's very hard to list at the price I'd expect it to go for-I really wouldn't have predicted the outcome this evening. I always lose on the Grand National too :-(
I am just not experienced enough I guess. It has fallen upon me to sell these cleaners and I am trying to do what's best all round.

Josh declined the Second Chance on the U2107 as he has already invested in some of the other cleaners. I had the option of offering it to you but you have already stated you have commitments elsewhere so it may be relisted-may be sold off eBay.

This hasn't put me off. If it was up to me you guys would have had them all! My loyalty has to lie with Cee-Jay and recouping the storage costs for the last 20 years-plus what has been lost on the other items.

On the whole, I think this site is cool. I love your enthusiasm. Some of you have given me invaluable advice which has been appreciated. I like the disagreements less but it is part and parcel of the passion you have for your collectables which is what makes it so interesting.

Well, Steve, I see your stamping your feet and causing a drama over these being auctioned AND your alleged "wanting Lucy to get the best price" promotion campaign worked like a real charm, bravo! Next time, why don't you butt out, mind your own and let the seller do what THEY want to do.

Christ folks, this is almost as much of a disaster as Hoover free flights. Is it any wonder hardly any of the UK collectors post here anymore when all we end up with is this shit and a heap of arguments caused by THE SAME people over and over again!?

Alex - that's enough thanks. Your politeness is appreciated. The same to you Turbo500 - the pot shouldn't call the kettle black, and the feeling is mutual.

Rob - I've removed one post and asked the webmaster to remove the other one - I apologise for mentioning your username. It'll not happen again.

Thanks for you post Lucy, much obliged.

Unfortunately there are some nasty, and vindictive members here so they are best ignored, they give vacuumland a bad name.

The majority of us enjoyed the auctions.

Disappointing to read.

I've been watching all this from the sidelines and i'm really disappointed with the way things have progressed within the circle of UK collectors. Not just with this but the whole thing in general. People have asked why I don't post very often on here anymore. Quite frankly i'm disgusted with the arrogance, bad attitudes and conflict i've seen in recent months. We're supposed to be all in this together, the whole point of the groups and forums is too support eachother and to help eachother out and to enjoy our slightly strange and wonderful hobby.

I've been involved in collecting for the last decade or so since the Hooverland days, when it used to be fun, when we used to help each other find the rare machines we wanted, when we used to exchange brochures etc etc and just generally have a laugh. Now it just seems to be about complete and utter idiots who ruin it for everyone. Certain people seem to thrive on causing issues purely for a bit of entertainment. It's very very sad indeed.

And as a long-term ebayer myself, I really feel for the person selling these wonderful vacuums. Totally mucked about and what a bad impression it gives of UK collectors. This has made us all look like a bunch of morons.

I really hope that people re-evaluate their behaviour, morals, manners and general attitudes and maybe one day, Vacuumland will be fun again. For now, I think now is a good time for me to stick with my close friends and collectors and give VL a bit of a wide berth. This place is more hassle than it's worth these days...

Ryry 87. I know this has nothing to do what's happening but what happened to your shark vacuum cleaner

Another day another Dyson...

What a disappointing end to an exciting afternoon. Let's start a new positive thread and forget the negativity on this one-and save us the scrolling!

Ryan, I could not agree more and I miss those days very much. Too many people here are out for all they can get and wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire.

I miss the days when we were united and when we all stood by eachother and helped eachother out. Thank god for the Facebook groups as it still happens between us on there. Remember the days when we were pleased for eachother over a great find, rather than just bitter and jealous?

Let's spread this work on the entire site of vacuumland and vacuum all the crappy things away!
Maybe too much vacuuming here was done, but no washing? after this wash, it will be all fresh, so why not do a fresh start?

This thread was perfectly civil until Alex started being rude and immature. Turbo500 then came on with his usual charm, tact and diplomacy. I'm sorry but I am not standing for this rudeness, and being made to look the idiot. Personally, reading this thread from start to finish, Alex and Turbo500 are the ones who spoil it for everyone else.

Lucy has been perfectly fine with the auction results, so Turbo500 has no grounds for the bitterness.
