You Choose: Eureka Roto-Matic or Hoover Powermatic?

The battle of the canister with the power nozzles: Eureka and Hoover.

Why these two? Both sold their stuff under private labels.

Which of the two do you prefer: Eureka Roto-Matic Power Team or Hoover Powermatic?

In the '80s, we were treated to advanced versions such as the Roto-Matic with the Vibra Groomer II brush, and Hoover's answer was their Quadraflex Powermatic.

Eureka's Express, with its Express Power Team nozzle with the new Vibra Groomer III brush roll, was its answer to Hoover's Dimension series.

But Eureka has the edge in that they also sold their Roto-Matic Power Team power nozzle design to Fairfax, Interstate (Compact and Tri-Star) and Rainbow-Rexair; even though I know the Hoover Powermatic nozzle was also licensed to Fairfax for a time.

The Interstate version of Eureka's nozzle also has a 2-speed switch.

Personally, out of the two, I like the roto-matic. I always found that they were a little easier to work on. I have a couple actual eureka roto-matics, (brandywine and the later light blue) and the rainbow/rexair D-2 powerhead with the "woodgrain" top and no height ajustment.

Having honestly used both, id have to say the Eureka, with a VG1 wins.

I have a Eureka made TriStar PN with a VG1 installed,,and if you leave it running on the carpet in the living room,(thich pad and carpet both) and walk to the complete other side of the house,(built on a slab), you can still feel the vibration on the carpet way on the other side of the house.

Testing a Hoover QuadraFlex the same way, I can NOT feel the vibration that far away, So, i cant help but say the Eureka is more agressive at beating the dirt out of the carpet.
I also notice the Eureka leaves a nicer vacuum line in the carpet vs the Hoover,, and i just feel that it digs deeper into the carpet fiber,,,but i will have to say the Hoover is a close second. Also the older Kenmore Whirlpool made PN seems to be excellent on my thick carpet, and i can tell it really digs deep. It also leaves a very clean looking line on the carpet.

I once had a Rainbow D4 with the older style, brown boxy like PN,,,and will have to say it was excellent too,,as far as digging in and grooming the carpet well.

Just MHO. Everyone and every carpet is different.

now, which one would "I" choose?" Now, wait, let me think.. Personally, I'm not a huge canister/powerhead guy. I use one of those HOOVER powernozzles when I cleaned houses to helpay for college. I would like to procure the green one, to match the Decade 80.
