UH This isnt autosense? omg this was EXACTLY EXACTLY like mine, but mine was green, i thouht it was autosense, but I was dumb in 2008, now I am 14

I wouldn't say you were dumb but Hoover at that time didn't make it easy for many, releasing so many editions not just rebuilds from other shops/independents that it is impossible to know just how many were made.

The Purepower badging at the front of that floor head was also (the name written in silver italics) the type of writing/hoods that were put on rebuilds end of the 1990s. I only know this because I bought quite a few Telios cylinder vacs from independents and used to see quite a few of the models in store, in different colours but always with the blanking plate over the LED bag light of the original models and no variable suction buttons or slider.

sebofan...

The early Purpowers all had that fancy 90's looking Purepower lettering, on later models till about 2002/2003 they had changed it to just saying "edge to egde power cleaning" and about 2004 - present it just says power edge cleaning, which by the way only the early ones from the late 90's did a good job at edge cleaning as on the early models they had a rotating edge brush like on the Turbopower 2/1000/3 but on ealry 2000's model Purepowers they changed it to just a static edge brush and now on new models they don't have any edge cleaning brushes at all, as it no longer uses the activator, it uses that cheapy, loud, AWFUL red brushroll with soft brushes, they stopped using the activator in Purepowers in about 2003, when the Turbopower 2's were discontinued and then production moved to china.
The old Purepowers were not the greatest but are 10 times better than the new ones they make up in china now. UK production for the win! :P[this post was last edited: 4/10/2013-14:20]

My 2000 hoover pure power u3330 or something has an activator in it. Does an OK job, but the TP one is far better!!! I don't like the static edge brushes though, all the debris just gets clogged in them!!

I agree completely George!

The Activator in the Purepower is very different than the Turbopower 2/1000/3 I will show pictures to help describe it.
Here is the Hoover Purepower with Activator - It has shorter, softer brushes with smaller, less pronounced beater pads than the original Activator and those static edge brushes are alright but like George said, bits of dirt get stuck in them.

The Activator on the Turbopower 2 has longer, much stiffer brushes and large, more raised beater pads that work a lot better, you can actually feel these beater pads smacking the carpet (on a thinner pile) it goes "du, du, du, du, du, du, du" lol, just like the old Agitator brushroll. As you can see it has longer "slayed" edge brushes that actually BRUSH right to the edge as they extend past the edge of the sole plate.

Here is a closer look of how close these brushes actually are to the edge, true, true edge cleaning on this machine, like I said the VERY early Purepowers had this type of edge brush but again, it wouldn't of done as good as the Turbopower 2, infact the Turbopower 2 IS better than the Purepower in every way, needless to say, I really do like the early Purepower models.
