It was yesterday, July 15, 1975 that I purchased my own Hoover 1076 Convertible.
It was on 'clearance' at Jewelcor, and sold for $84.00
I got it for $59.00. It's been serviced both in Wilkes-Barre and later, Scranton. It was the daily driver for years and years, and still looks and operates in mint condition. I'll try to post a pic from one of the other posts it's in.
It just proves, that, it you take care of good, quality things, they WILL last.

1975, I remember it very well.

Very cool that you still have it and it's like new! I've surprisingly ever bought only two new cleaners, and it wasn't until I was over 20.

scranton here ....well well well........ there she is ...... still magnificent after all these years .....just beautiful......this is the very 1076 i had the honor of servicing in july of 2002 ....i had to replace with all genuine hoover north canton ohio replacement parts ........the handle release lever , carbon motor brushes , upper motor bearing , lubricated the lower motor bearing with a genuine 1975 hoover grease gun with hoover north canton ohio grease ......i also serviced its agitator replacing its agitator bearings felt washers and agitator belt ....that was 23 years ago where did the time go .....it came to 72.60 .....paid for by check when the repair was done it was the most impressive 1076 i had ever seen frozen in time and i am glad to see that it looks as magnificent as it did when i first met it in 2002...i also gave him 5 years ago a beautiful 1076 outer bag delivered by a mutual friend and customer for his aunts 1076 bringing back to its original look .....he also has a magnificent u4021 from 1974 in powder blue that he brought to my showroom for me to meet in person that is equally beautiful

I still have the 1969 and 1982 vintage Kenmore canister vacuums my parents bought new. Both are runners too. The older one shows its years but the newer one still looks darn good.

GREAT PHOTOS THEY LOOK MAGNIFICENT IN THE BATHROOM.....YOU SHOULD POST A PICTURE OF YOUR MAGNIFCENT ORANGE CONVERTIBLES U4095 IN FLAME ORANGE AND U4033 IN FLAMINGO NOW THOSE ARE TWO RARE BIRDS IN THE POST 1975 ERA OF HIGH PERFORMANCE ROUND HANDLED HIGH PERFORMANCE CONVERTIBLES
