What is the most amount you've spent on a vintage vac?

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

£80.05, and that was for my Kirby D80...

(expensive I know, but it'd have cost more to buy and then ship one form the US, so, a bargain really!!)

Hmm....

My Kirby D80 cost me $125, then an additional $125 to restore it.

My Vitavac which is more collectable than old, I suppose, was $200 but I traded some stuff in for it.

My hoover 800 I had long ago cost me around $120 in an ebay bidding war.

Thats about it. Ive dropped well over $100 in a haul but thats several machines at once.

Well I think the most I have ever spent on a vacuum was my rexair model B it was the second rexair ever made if I am not mistaken it is small and kinda a light silver and I bought it from a vac store here in Edmonton and it was totally rebuilt with all the attachments and original box it is beautiful and I spent $200. The Most I've Spent on a Vintage Vac:

Was $177.50 in an eBay bidding war. This was for my turquoise Model G with all original attachments and in near-mint condition. Fortunately, it was a vacuum shop that was auctioning it, so it has a one year motor warranty on it.

Not really vintage, but the most ever spent on a vac, Back in 1989, About 600 dollars for a new Beam Central Vac, plus installation of 3 inlets, hose and attachments.

Did pay about 600 for a new Kirby G4, back in 1994,when they were brand new.
( Was way before getting a PC, having the internet, or E-Bay)

Told the dealer i would pay 600 IF the Kirby was sealed in the box, brand spanking new, directly from the factory, never opened, and that the G4 had the 80th Anniversary logo on the handle.

He assured me over and over that it was.

Had to leave town suddenly on business right after paying for it,, so,
When i went to open the box a few days later,,of course the Carpet Shampoo System brush was full of lint, there was residue of water and shampoo in the tank, and you could tell the brush roll of the carpet nozzle itself had been slightly used. And of course a slightly used bag was still in side the outer bag.
And, NOT anniversary model.

I called to complain, but was more than 72 hrs after the sale,,and the paperwork had been signed,,so they just laughed at me.

Learned a lesson that day,,NEVER again!

"Learned a lesson that day,,NEVER again! "

The lesson for everyone is to never buy a Kirby from Kirby themselves...

It's not the vacuums....

The parts and things I buy for the vacuums I have seem to cost me more than the vacuum itself. I got my Electrolux LX for $5 then spent $40 for a nice looking original hose.
My Kirby D80 was $40 then another $40 for a correct bag.

Yeah.....

I have paid WAY more for the factory LUX replacement hoses than the vacuums themselves. Something really ironic/wrong there....

the most i ever spent for a vac was for my sealed in the box Hoover guardsman u4313 on ebay from an awesome collector from texas in 2005 for 725.00 and is my pride and joy

Just commenting on that horrible Kirby story that sounds like it must of sucked but that's ridiculous that they would only offer a 48 hour return policy I know at AERUS there is a ten day money back but ya that sucks. Zach

I paid $100 for my Kirby 510 which is mostly original and in great shape, and has all attachments and the manual. :)

Tomorrow looking at a Sanitronic VII the guy wants $60 and claims it is original with attachments, but I have not seen pics so we'll see. Hope the bag is original at least or he's getting a lower offer.

I paid $150 for my G5 with attachments, which looking back was maybe a bit much considering it was in a smokers house and took a bit of work to clean up. But I bought it before I really got into "collecting" and knew what they were worth and where to find them.

I refuse to buy any Kirby product for the exact bait & switch mentioned above. I've come to absolutely detest any of their products because all of the dealers here in Wausau seem to be crooks! I also find them to be very pushy and rude.
