And yet I still came out feeling good about it in the end...

Well isn’t this sounding sultry already... but it’s all true, I swear!!
A good friend of mine found, on FB Marketplace, a free central vac unit and all the attachments, you just have to come take it off the wall. I knew what this meant, someone didn’t appreciate their central vac, and that saddened me, but more importantly I saw a unit I was actually wanting, and a bunch of attachments. I also saw an electric hose, and was curious if I’d get a power nozzle too... So I get there after work yesterday I get there to pluck this dusty (and she’s a dusty one, Mr Grinch) and find out why the owner was giving this away. She’d just moved in in December and never even wanted to plug the hose in and try it! She said (oh come slowly now, I feel the ol’ heart ready to give out) “I don’t want to deal with all those hoses and cords, I’d rather just use my Dyson.” (Lets into the Fred Sanford “it’s the big one!” Routine). So, I did the unthinkable and ripped from a central vac it’s heart and soul, and left nothing in the void! I arrived to a fully functioning system, and left a gutted, lifeless set of flaps... oh the humanity!

But I did get my slime green, dual motor Vacumaid-Maid! And the unexpected bonus of the Stealth kit was very nice too!

As Joni Mitchell would say...

..."You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone". In her case, she didn't know what she had and she wanted it gone. Better for you to rescue it than to leave it there for her to scrap later. Let her enjoy replacing her plasticrap Dyson every other year when she doesn't clean the filters. She didn't give a rip what happened to that system once it left her door, so at least you've preserved it, perhaps not in situ, but it's better than seeing it go to the recycler. You did the only logical thing in that situation.

Nice

I'm looking into getting a central vac myself. I think it would be awesome.
If she is happy with the Dyson that's good. If you try to force a new idea onto someone it's not usually good. She gets piece of mind you get a sweet central vac its win win.

Oh!

Those poor ol flaps will never be the same! But don’t you worry, don’t you worry! Dr. Spinglemeyer had it all figured out!
You weren’t kidding about that Stealth being in really nice shape. The thing looks like new.

Very nice. So happy for you. Although I’m sure you know Edgar does not approve. How wonderful that the theme of the vacuum cleaner collectors convention this year is central vacuums.

When Edgar doesn’t approve...

...Eldon always concurs!

But yes, I can’t wait to get out there in a couple months!

And I am glad I got this thing, it’s a dust belcher for sure, but I’m going to try and find a suitable bag can to stick between the can and the motor pod, will probably have to settle for a newer one and repaint it. I’m going to set up a working display in my basement with all of my large diameter dual motor units, and a couple others. Going to have my Filtex TC600, that Vacumaid, a Kenmore, a push button and light system, a Vacuflo, and we’ll see what else.

Mike (from St. Louis) is bringing a few of his 240 volt central units that have utility valves. I'm going to have you take video of the units running a turbocat and a vintage turbinette (Compact). We are going to do a live Facebook feed for all our friends who can't come to the Vacuum Cleaner Collectors Convention this year. I'm having Chicgo Mike make masks for everyone with Mid Missouri Vacuum's logo on it. Hey, advertising works. And then there is Evan Rogers central vac collection as well.

I might bring out my CleanMaster for some fun too. Could bring my 3 motor Filtex as well, I think Evan has all the same stuff as I do other than that. I know you have a SilentMaster S5 now, like I do!
