Hello all I just joined this forum and this is my first post. I have several vintage vacuums they are all in good condition but many have not been used in years. I need some direction on what to do to properly go over each vacuum to be able to put them into regular service again. I have hoover convertibles and Electrolux canisters. In this post I would like to find out What I would need to do to my Electrolux model XXX. What do I need to do to properly lubricate motor, service brushes, switch and what ever else needs servicing. Vac has probably not been used in 30 years and I do not want to run it until I know everything has been done. Vac is in nice shape I think it is a pre - war model I do not have it in front of me to confirm .I will look at it tomorrow. I just bought a NOS Electrolux dust bag for it. The rubber carry handle could stand to be replaced is it still available from some where? Also what about a replacement for the hose for daily use? Is a exploded view of vacuum available? Thanks Bill,

Hello bill
there are plenty of people on here who can help you with your request. at this time my machines are in the back of my storage unit up high on shelves. to access the motor is actually pretty easy, there are 2 knobs in the rear of the machine holding the filter cap on it, unscrew those but not all the way, you will then be able to push on the knobs and the hooks that latch onto the body of the machine will some undone allowing the motor to be accessed. I have not taken one of these apart in ages but still remember it. there are 3 nuts holding the motor in place, these need to be fully loosened and taken off. once done the motor should be able to pop out allowing you to service it properly. if your machine does not have a cord you can use a percolator coffee pot cord, these tend to work well for testing purposes. if you need any other help with your machine please email me at [email protected] and I will gladly assist you with your project via phone

Mike
