Another view so you can see the bag collar with the trap door. To the left of the trap door is where you clip the fragrance chip into. There wasn't one provided with this bag. I have a pack of 6 fragrance chips that came with the kit which go with the box of 6 bags. I've just use one on the new bag I fitted nice subtle fresh fragrance as you vacuum.

Bottom fill bags

I have  Miele Quick Step with a bottom fill bag.  The bag has chambers inside that help direct the material in the bag away from the intake so that it fills completely with very little loss in suction. 


 


So a well designed bottom fill is not that bad, and it does shorten the air path,. 
 
I've had a quick look in one of the Vorwerk bags as I wondered what was rattling around inside the bag. It was the charcoal chips. I didn't see any chambers I will have to take another look.

Any blockages the Kobold may have will be mainly in the heads attached or the hose as that is the main air path. Makes it easy to remove any blockages.

Amodel fan-something very interesting in the user manual for the Kirby Avalir--"Do not use the blower mode with the inflator tool for more than 60 seconds at a time-the fan may be damaged from overheating"Never seen this warning before in previous Kirby instruction books of models using the similar fans.At the vac place here Kirbys come in bunches needing new fans from breakage or erosion.The dirt tracked in here is sort of sandy-its murder on any sort of plastic fan.Sanitaires are another frequent victim.The fans get broken from anything from pennies to Barbie shoes!And another funky thing-lots of Royal uprights have been sold and used here-haven't seen a single ONE coming in to the shop for fan replacement!The Royal fans appeear to hold up MUCH better than Kirby or Sanitaire fans.
 
Rex, Yes it is true. The Amodel fans are subject to soften and warp if the temperature inside the fan case exceed 536 degrees Fahrenheit. Actually the Avalir manual is erring on the conservative side. It will actually take close to 5 minutes of using the inflator tool before the temp reaches over 536 degrees. Most inflatable toy air mattresses will inflate in less than 60 seconds. The much larger double size non toy air mattresses will accept the end of the hose for inflation so inflation time is not a problem.


 


Of all the folks I have conversed with who have worked in or owned Kirby repair shops, you are the only one I have ever heard complain of Amodel fan errosion or breakage except in very rare occasions.

sptyks:The former vac shop here had the same thing.He had a few 5 gal buckets full of broken Kirby fans.-All from G type machines.The present vac shop man doesn't save the fans-when he replaces one-he gives the broken one back to the customer along with whatever the fan hit.As I pointed out-the Kirbys come in batches.Same with the Sanitaires.The fellow that runs the vac shop used to work in a vac shop that was in Cape Hatteras:They replaced LOTS of plastic fans there-the beach sand tracked into homes there just ate the fans up.It would eat up metal fans-just took longer.And that sandy soil on the beach and at my place eats up lawnmower blades,too!You should see what the sand here does to flail mower blades!!
 
Another thought on the Kirby air pump-inflator-With that narrow opening tool on the end of the hose-the Kirby is now a centrifical compressor of sorts-and yes,causes the fan to heat up-friction against the air molecules like in any other aircompressor.I could picture a customer using the inflator to inflate a large air matteress or even a raft-this would probably mean the unit has to run for more than 5 min.I think for inflatables-better to just use the big air hand pumps you can get at the toy and hobby stores-no worry of heating!--But good exercise!!I used one of those pumps once to inflate a freinds large pool-didn't take all that long-the pump put out air on BOTH strokes of the plunger-up or down.And the pump had connectors that would better match the air connector on the items you are inflating since the pump was made exclusively for that purpose while the Kirby was not.
 
Though I have used the Kirby

to inflate a large queen sized air mattress before, It was using the full open end of the hose. Usually I pull a cannister as it is easier than taking the bag off etc. and the other steps to convert the Kirby for that short use.

For smaller items like beach balls etc, I use the inflator tool on the portable air compressor.
 
Hi Roger no the full package didn't include the waterless window cleaning system. That's the only tool that is not part of any of the packages, it's an additional purchase if you required the attachment.

I have had the pleasure of seeing it in action. I was impressed with the results and would love to get one at some point. You can use it inside and outside too. It leaves the windows streak free and none sticky like it puts a protective layer on the glass. I couldn't believe how the glass felt after it had been cleaned conpaired to before it was cleaned. So easy to use too, apply the liquid with microfibre mitten. Leave until it dries to a white chalk like effect. Then vacuum off with the attachment. The set comes with an adaptor like you say to use with other vacuums.

I have a Karcher which is ok great results. Out of the two I would prefer the Vorwerk waterless system for in door use.
 
I have a Karcher window vac but I'm not that impressed with it. It's OK for the windows I can reach, but is no good for the upstairs windows outside. The more I look at the Vorwerk, the more I want one, but I cannot justify spending that much money on any vacuum cleaner, no matter how versatile it is.
