Hi guys
I have here a vintage Hoover Chromed Suction Polisher
Model F2544
Made in Italy
Fully functional, with front that lights up during operation
Spotless condition with all its attachments
I wonder if anyone knows what year it could be....I think 60s but not sure
Could anyone tell me how much this is worth as I am finally thinking about selling it.
I know there was one sold on ebay in 2004 for 450us dollars to a guy in Austria...that was ten years ago and his was the plastic version.
Any advise/info much appreciated...thanks guys

Never saw one before. Seems like it wouldn't get close to the walls. And I don't understand exactly the need for suction. None of our polishers, that I'm aware of, use suction except to turn the brushes.

My only thought

and this is only a thought with no factual backing.  Maybe the suction is employed with the polishing to remove debris or dust as you polish.

There have been others in the forums ...

These were apparently popular in Italy. Many homes there are fully tiled, with some rugs in some areas, whereas in Australia, America and many other counties we tend to carept wall-to-wall and only tile in wet areas.

With so much floor to polish, machines like these were probably more important than actual vacuum cleaners.

The machine is a dustless floor polisher. It is surprizing how much dust is generated by floor polishing. So the machine is equippped to collect it.One time a large gas motored polisher was being used in a Food Lion store here-the dust the machine made was something-and its large gas motor sounded like someone was driving a motorcycle thru the store. Many of the large commercial floor polisher-burnishers are equipped with dust collection systems. The polisher pads-wheels throw off a lot of dust! Also the dried floor-wax polish makes dust too.

No,the gas buffer-burnishers run at 1500-2000 RPM.Any faster than that and you would have buffing pad peices all over!Yes,they run from propane-and if the CO levels get too high in the place the machine shuts off.
