Vintage Stick Vacs

As I have not posted about most of these, I figured it would be easiest to just make one thread for all of them. The Lite($10) was from ReStore and NIB. The only issue is that the roller motor is not working. The Superbroom ($5) is from Peddler's mall and works like new. The Hoover Deluxe ($10) is from a vendor's mall and after some repair, works fine. The later Hoover ($1) is from Offerup. It works fine on all three speeds but is very loud. The Swivel Stick ($9) is from Goodwill and works like new. This one is different from the Plus, as it has 6 amps, one speed, and a toggle switch. The plus is from ReStore and works but the switch is slow. What are some of you guy's vintage stick vacs?

Hey, what Peddler's Mall do you go to? I'm in Lexington, so I used to go to that one until the prices got ridiculous.

I usually switch it up between the Lexington and Richmond Peddler's Mall. The prices at the Lexington one did get high, but there are sometimes good deals. Personally, I have had more luck at the Richmond one.

I have the stick vac plus it's 2 speed 3.5 amps.
It's straight suction machine. I don't know how much difference is with higher amperage.
The dirt devil is fun to vacuum with. It cleans wood/tile floor or corners it works great.

It was made in 1997

It seems much more powerful and it has a much more normal sound to it. It also can stand up on its own. Now i just need to unstick the wheels.

I have found two Fantoms and a Concept One (didn't get the Concept One, unfortunately) at the Georgetown location.

My oldest stick vac is this Regina Electrikbroom bagless.

I will have to go there sometime. At the richmond one, I found a Hoover Innovation for $10 and a non working Kirby H84 for $25 as well as a few other machines from the era.
That Electrikbroom looks really cool, Does it perform well?

I've had a number of Bissell Featherweights and 3-Ways over the years. They're pretty good for a straight suction stick vac.

Stick vacs

I’ve had a lot of stick vacs over the years, they never seemed to last long for me. Here’s the rundown: sunbeam power4 worked ok but exhausted right in your face. Regina broom with power head ok with power head messy to empty, Hoover quick broom, ok but overheated, Hoover sick vac, can’t recall name,now a Hoover wind tunnel corded that works the best. That’s a lot of dirt

I have ALMOST every model, now. They've never disappointed.

Stick Vacs

I'm not much into stick vacs myself, but I do have this Hoover Quick Broom that belonged to my Mom. Got the instruction book and sales receipt too. It's great for a quick tidy up.

The electric Broom from Regina in todays "Vacumm of the Day" could be considered an older stick vacuum.

I've got a couple of Hoover QuikBrooms. They're handy for getting up loose debris from the hardwood floors but pretty useless on rugs.

That pretty much sums up every stick vac. The dirt devil I have is good but carpet use anything else.

Indeed, anyone who has one of the first models of the Regina Electrikbroom from the 1950’s has an important piece of North American stick vac history.

The history of the stick-vac in other parts of the world is interesting too. I wonder if the very early Vorwerk Kobolds could be considered stick vacs...I imagine they really can as it basically had a long stick handle attached to a small suction motor unit.

Also, Japan’s Panasonic invented the concept of adding wands to a hand vac in the 1980’s. That Japanese design is what eventually gave birth to all the current crop of handvacs that become stick vacs with the attachment of a long wand.
