replacement zb 89 kaput ....1401??????

well  the   ZB89  gave  up  the gost    .....  try  re plug it  in    cord all the way  out  all  way   in  switch    fix  no  go   no  humming  nothing and motor  would  be slow  to start   i  did spy  on  ebay   a   1401 -B  Olympia one with  new hose vinyl    seller  willing  ship  Canada   i  offer  40  plus  ship   we  will  see.


 


and  my  bday  on sept  15  so   gift  from  me  to   me  i actually  use my  vac     Also  no  parts  for zb 89  were i live  other zb 89  are damage  cord reel  and  wheel  or body   or  older leaking  hose  the  1401  new hose  and works  should  be niceto pair with my PN6

The Olympia 1 is a great machine. 43 years old this year. Where does time go? I remember when mine was brand new in the box.

Antoine, you did good. Looks to be in nice shape and good hose for that price. The only thing I would suggest you do immediately is open up the cleaner and inspect the carbon brushes. Chances are they are worn down to nothing by now & ready to be changed. And order a set of Super J carbon brushes for it to have on hand. Being from the late 70s, it may look good, but will have had a LOT of miles on it. The old saying "looks can be deceiving" would apply here LOL.

Enjoy your new cleaner, and whatever you do, save that old Lux 89. You may eventually find a cheap donor parts machine to fix it up.

The Olympia one  il   check  her over  for sure   thanks  alot   ,  looks  like  has been service   also  due to sticker on it  with  number  humm.  if i need help  il  post here  i cannot wait it is being ship today   to try  it with my pn  6

Carbon Brushes?

Have you seen the size of the brushes on these old Electrolux motors? They are about a mile long and thick. Nothing like what you find on modern motors. Unless this machine was used daily for hours I would bet it has 1/2 or more of the brushes left.

Tyler, good point. But, let's not forget the age of the cleaner....the Olympia was made from 1979 to 1982. And the fact this vacuum has a newer hose and a service sticker on it indicates it was probably in regular service in someone's home till very recently. So at it's oldest, this cleaner is 24 years old, youngest it would be is 21 years old....considering most people vacuum at least 1 hour a week, yes I sure would at the very least be checking the carbon brushes on that motor. And there's nothing wrong with taking a little caution and doing a basic service on a older cleaner, and well advised too if it's a good model and year that's worth keeping in good condition and caring for.

Antoine - One thing I forgot too is that your Olympia would take the Ametek Advantek motor used in the Perfect C101 if you ever require a motor replacement. It can also use a single stage Electro Motor that's sold with a tube and seal to retrofit the motor to the cleaner. And the cord rewinder from the Perfect C101 would also work with it too. If you like this vacuum, might not be a bad idea to set aside a couple replacement parts.

Olympia

This later Olympia and first Silverado had some of the best motors. If it runs well and sounds good I would leave it alone and enjoy. The newer hose should give full suction.

i have looked at motor  on ebay some time they  pop  up  and i seen  lam ameteck  on mchardy  website  thanks yalll  i will  check  it  over
