Vintage Electrolux metal nozzle question

Hello all, I am attaching a picture of a vintage Lux attachment. When I swivel the tubing one way, it like "clicks" at one particular point in the revolution. When I swivel it the opposite way, it catches when it hits that point, and I cannot turn it further. I would appreciate your ideas. Thanks.

I guess you could say my question is - is it normal for a nozzle like this one to come to a "stop" in one direction that keeps it from proceeding?

No! There's a problem here, but most likely it's a quick fix.

The coupling that holds it to the wand or hose handle should turn completely, and there should be no squeek, or click!

Take a screwdriver, and remove the bottom brush assembly, there's a rubber gasget, I think that's the problem. It's most likely worn out, and pressing on the coupling. There might also be dirt in there, take it apart and have a look. You should also give it a squirt of WD-40 before you reassemble it.

This tool was first introduced with the model XXX in 1937 and was in production till the introduction of the model E which was about 1955, so no doubt it's gotten a lot of use.

Take it apart, see what you find, and let me know.

Yea, thanks, you pointed me in the right direction. The spring inside was hanging up in a hole, and a little fine tuning got it working. Should do alright. Thanks again.

Hi RobAndreson.

Unfortunately no, I wish there was as I could use several of them.

All of my early model Electrolux's from the X11 to the LX1, be that bare floor brush, rug tool or dusting brush need the rubber trim replaced, and in the correct colors.

If you find somebody who can make them for us, let me and the rest of us know.
