I was talking in general lol the last apartment I was in was HORRIBLE, I couldn't walk around with out my Pioneer pl-4 skipping tracks, what do you have for the garage

Gosh, I think a Pioneer, I would say BOL turntable my brother found at a thrift store and the other Realistic I bought in 90? Its was repaired under warranty. high wattage, but does not sound the same as the old one.Speakers there are some B&O that eat up too much space inside for me, plus that very 80s look

bang and oulfsen eh, those are some good speakers there :) I am looking for Bowers and wilkins, those would complete my dream system... ok ok maybe not, I have yet to complete my rotel set up for that. the Pioneer stuff all the way up to the late 90s was some good stuff, even the TOL Digital receivers, then everyone pretty much took a dive in the 2000s. GRR I miss the old analog technology it was such a beautiful thing

I forgot to mention Mike, I have a vintage B&O reciever also, small guy, beomaster 2300, my brother got it in the 70s, handed down. More to look at now.Yes, still works fine

The pl200 wasnt too basld for what it was... it worked. Here are the CS-77a speakers i have, for some reason i think i may have to recap the crossovers in them, not too sure yet. They have hardly been used within their life.

And yet with every pair of speakers i have heard and listened to i still go back to my hpm100's just the sweetness in the sound and detail

Electroluxxxx:Not only is the "Bass Fever" going in their home systems-but now in their cars!!The subwoofer amps and cabinets cranked up so much you hear them at stoplights-their trunklids and side mirrors vibrate and buzz to the subwoofers!ANNOYING!!!!Makes you want to hook 120V to their subwoofers!--Heres some BASS for ya!Or better yet-hook a speaker to the secondary of an AM transmitters modulation transformer-tried it-a 5Kw AM-modulator is good for 2.5Kw-speaker didn't last long! But it sure played loud! Was a junk dried out car speaker. The pictures of the older Radio Shack Hi Fi gear brings back memories! Some of that equipment wasn't that expensive-yet worked well.My Dad had a Radio Shack receiver like the one shown.Don't know if he still has it since he moved to a retirement home.Oh yes-remember the radio stations and recording studios?Sometimes they crank up the low end to annoy you!Its a pity that folks spend good money on Hi-Fi gear-esp "Hi end" folks-only to have crappy recordings to listen to.Some of them sound bad on a childs Fisher Price record player!I think a lot of recording studio producers have the "tin ears" like what we have been talking about! So with that it is hard to do any serious music listening.

NOW

this may not be vintage but, it is a dream that will never come true, the Bowers and Wilkins 802 Diamond speakers at 30 grand a pair used (i think) I can only say FORGET IT!!!! But they sound OH so sweet!!!!!

B&W Hi-Fi speaker systems-yes the holey grail for modern Hi-Fi fans.Too much for me,too.I thought about music and such lately-to be honest don't listen to music as much as I used to.Listen mostly in the car!Usually cinema organ and band organ music CD's.Popular music I am SICK to death of-same with 70-80's.Hear it so much in stores restuarants and so on.And as I mentioned before --QUALITY made recordings worthy of listening to.That could be a problem for folks listening with those B&W speakers or any other high quality audio gear.I like vintage Altec,Klipsch,JBL,Magnavox audio gear. And to make space for those-would need to buy that castle a freind suggested. And Fisher,Scott Hi-Fi gear and consoles. Those were nice. There are no B&W or any other high end Hi-Fi equipment dealers in Greenville.Closest would be Raleigh or Charlotte.

we have one here, it is audio classics VERY well known nationwide, their showroom is absolutely a dream come true. I actually got to listen to those 802's and fell in love with them, however I am going to buy a set of B&W speakers as soon as I can... I have been looking at the local craigslist and have found a set for 600 for the pair and I think that they were either dual 6 1/2 or dual 8. absolutely beautiful cabinets ! I listen to everything weather it be classical, or today's music so when it comes down to it a good set of speakers or in my case SEVERAL good sets of speakers are always needed lol

Glad you like the B&W speaker systems-I have never heard them so I can't comment. If you can get a set for $600-that would be a bargain.Esp for someone that listens a lot.As I pointed out-I am musiced out.Seems like music of some sort is with you when you DON'T want to hear it-You have NO control of it-you can't turn it off,or down,or select what YOU want to hear in places.I so miss jukeboxes in restuarants-you could at least have some selection as to what music you want to play while eating. And the jukebox patrons always waited for someones elses selections to finish playing before they made theirs. Was sort of interesting.Since I have a lot of 45 records from radio stations-looking for a jukebox to store and play them in.As it is now for audio gear-it competes for space for my other collections.Speakers and Hi-Fi gear are cool-but just don't have the space except for certain items. And if I listened more would delegate more importance to audio gear.I know other guys that were trying to trim down their audio gear-and even offered it to me!did get some of it,though.Mostly books. Also, since I do the audio work at the workplace-just want to play with something elese at home. Its like some of the folks that work at the transmitter site with me are "hams"-They use their Ham gear when they get home.I have just used radio gear for an 8 hour shift-so I want to do something elese when I get home.Therefore-my vacuum cleaners,or other appliances.Guess I just have too many interests-can be a problem at times.
