So I got my Turbopower 1000 back in March time (2015) did the usual stripping it down with the exception of the motor. Reason being I had never (at the time) worked on any motors. So skipping ahead iv'e got more to grips with them. (I'll add the original thread, if anyone's interested)

Anyway, so I decided I would do the 1000's motor. Seeing I had never worked on a clean air machine I practiced on some burnt out ones.

Might as well do a thread so here's a few pictures of before and during. Plus a few reference pictures. Just need to reassemble the machine its self now!

This used to be my daily driver, but now is going to "retire" if you will,as the commy is looking a bit knackerd. It's starting to go like my U2716's. So it's a display piece only now!

Now with that all out of the way, again thank you so much Alex ( AlexHoovers94 ) for all your help!

And thanks for others who commented one of my other threads.

No, that's my point. The "dirt" is not a problem at all to the performance of the motor. Cleaning the commutator is, because any scratches in it can increase carbon brush wear and also the chance of arcing (which can lead to motor faliure).

@vintagerepairer

As I said it's a display only vacuum now, so it doesn't matter. As for other vacuums where I clean the commy they don't get used on a regular basis,so it doesn't matter.

But thanks for the advice.
