Mark..

I was referring to interchangeable brush rolls, from the side without using any tools, like the Sebo, Windsor, some Lindhaus, and the new Hoover Insight and Profile.

Anyone know if this machine comes with a combo flip floor brush.. I really like them for our persian wool and other area rugs.

Combo floor tool

I'm not 100% sure on this, but i don't think it would come with the combo tool. It appears to have the same style tool set up as the both the guardian ultra and tristar MG series neither of which have the combo floor tool to my knowledge.

So I'll throw this out just saying that this is my opinion. Not to start a flame war.

I personally don't love the styling and look of this new machine. I think it's OK, but not great, like some of the older machines. It's interesting: the old Electroluxes were so unique looking. When you saw one, you just knew it was a great Electrolux and nothing else. This new machine, while probably a great performer, has a generic look that doesn't stir up any passion in me.

What I mean is that the old Electroluxes seemed to be designed in-house, with a real emphasis on product and brand identity. I get the feeling that styling of these new machines was designed by the OEM manufacturer, and maybe Aerus had some minor input about the look, but did not conceive of the outer design.

The result, to my eye, is a machine that has a similar form factor of the traditional Electrolux tanks, but is rather generic looking. As if it was an OEM design that they shopped around to different brands, so they could slap their own label onto it.

Anyway, that's my personal feeling of the new machine: it's probably a great performer, but it doesn't have that design flair that makes me like the older Luxes so much.

Still, I would probably snap one up if I ran across a great deal on it.

I think when....

Aerus sold the Electrolux name, they also were going to let the original Electrolux come up with some design options. At least that is what I understood from one of the service men I used to deal with. I don't think Aerus does R & D....

Sincerely,

Perhaps that is a good thing since they needed to sell the name back for cash flow....

I may pick one up this week. I hate my centra lux. A real pain to use. The damn hose scratches the hell out of my walls and baseboards and I can't stand emptying and cleaning the filter. The dust makes me sneeze for two hours with runny etching eyes after emptying and cleaning. The only draw back I see is using a different style bag. I wish they would have used the same C style bag they have used for the last 60 plus years

@luxman107

Hey just a thought. Have you ever considered getting a hose sock it would protect your walls and it is a much less than paying for a whole new vacuum. That would at least fix one of the problems lol thanks. Zach

Zachary

I will post some pics when I am not busy : )
I still have it in the box have not used it just tried the demo and it was way more powerful than the Guardian Ultra I purchased a few months back . It is an awsome looking and quality built Aerus / Electrolux . This machine will bring them back from the cheap looking Ultra they tried to make top of the line . That machine might be replacing the legacy .

Zach

I love the hose covered with socks, that's just too neat! I got a good laugh out of that :-)

Dan....To me, it makes sense they would replace the Aerus Classic, not the Aerus Legacy. Why? Because the Classic doesn't have direct-connect wands. People expect to see that feature on a vacuum that sells for $1,000 dollars like the Classic does. It also doesn't help that their copycat competitor Perfect uses those same wands, & that they have been around for decades. Plus it doesn't even have storage on-board for tools, unless you consider the clip on the tool cover. Bottom line....the Classic is just too much of an outdated design to sell in 2012. As much as us collectors love the design, Aerus needs to shelve that design once & for all.

Thanks Zach, your pics made my day. I did think about getting a sock. My biggest issue is still emptying the tank and cleaning the filter.. I have big time dust allergies, so as we'll as the hose scratching the walls and base boards, cleaning the filters, and emptying it is a pain. And it's really cumbersome to use.. I find I use my 1950's AE more than the central.

Got mine today. Traded in the lux central I hated. My Electrolux guy had a home for the central.
Great machine and very quite. Has the tools Electrolux was known for , flip bruch and combo dust/upholstery tool. I really like how quite it is. Kind of reminds me of the soft sound of the xxx Electrolux.

I think the Classic should still be made; but sold like at WalMart, K-Mart, Target & dept. stores.

Seems like I'm going to buy the new Aerus Platinum either before Christmas. :)
