needs a few tins of spray paint

am i the only one who finds it interesting that the majority of commercial uprights are the old fan on the floor, bag in the back design? it is a time proven design for a vacuum cleaner. sure many have moved from steel hoods to polycarbonate, BUT the design is still a winner, works well, holds up well, cleans well
commercial customs seem to pay for quality that will last and do the job, the usual average consumer not so much, therefore the plastic vacs are cranked out in pretty colors to catch their eye

The Fan-on-the-floor Bag-in-the-back design is the best, bagless junk is just sold as a "money saving appliance", except that when people find they don't pick up any more, they throw it out and buy a new one, so they waste more money than if they bought a vac that uses proper bags... :)

Given the choice of a shiny, new, £500 bagless vacuum, or a tatty old cloth-bagged vacuum, I'd go for the tatty one any day, bags are so easy to change, unlike bagless vacs where honestly you need to wash the filters every time you dump them out, not to mention bagless vacuums are just plain disgusting, but that's a whole other thread for me... :P
