The Kirbys are breeding!!!

It wasn't even a week ago I was banging on saying I didn't really 'collect' any more and how my Sentria2 was the only machine I really needed ect ect....

Then this happened....

So first off my Sentria2. Bought brand spanking new by myself from the Kirby dealer around 3 months ago now.
This is my daily driver... HOWEVER it gets treated like royalty. I still want it to look this good in 10 years time

Total cost for this came to just over £1000.

So then I saw this on eBay. The seller wanted £40. I offered £30 and they accepted.
It was pretty local... only a 20 minute drive

Sadly no shampoo kit, however the tools are all unused and in pristine condition....

Serviced regularly by the local Kirby dealer too! Fitted with a new cord on its last service - hence its a standard black colour. Still a genuine part though

Overall its in very good condition. Few light scratches but it will polish up lovely. Just wants a good clean and polish really....

Fill tube is prefect, fan is perfect (just a little grubby), its an ideal resto machine really....

Only things it needs are a new bulb and I'm going to replace the brush roll as I feel it will benefit the machine. The brushes on the old one are going a little soft now....

Oh and it also came with a load of vintage Kirby belts. I won't be using them as the newer style ribbed ones are much better.... Can only assume they were bought with the machine back in 1989

Then I bought this. I bid and won on eBay and got it for £10.50!
3 hour round trip in the car to collect it though!

Sadly it only came with what you can see...

Apart from being dirty and needing a good clean and polish the condition is great.
The bag is in great shape and just needs a wash.
It has a blue cord on from a Tradition - I'll be changing this for something more suitable...

Metal fan in good condition...

The speed selector is jammed in the 'on' position so the machine runs even with the rug nozzle removed... Think its just jammed up with dirt though

The brush on this shows very little wear

The rug renovator is from the earlier Classic Omega...

However I'm not sure what the shampoo tank itself is from as the cap is the wrong colour?

Perhaps its just had the cap replaced?

Oh and I also found these in the box... I thought they were pretty cool...

So that's it for now.
Both machines (The Legend II & Classic III) will have their own dedicated restoration thread when I get round to doing them.

Both machines are fully operational as they are....

The plans are -

Legend II - Strip down, clean, wash bag, polish, replace the brush roll, fit new bulb, fit new style HEPA dust bag and then I'm going to use this machine for jobs I don't want to use my Sentria2 on. Sort of a second daily driver.

Classic III - Strip down, clean, wash bag, new bulb, new belt & a good polish. Going to source a more appropriate colour cable and also look at the motor bearings... it runs well but they sound a little dry and if I'm going to restore it I may as well do it properly. Don't intend to really use this machine once its looking like new

Seamus... Any other time I'd have them... However the Kirby collection is on the back burner for now.

Easter Sunday tomorrow so that means an all day pub crawl with work people followed by a night out with non work mates.

Car insurance is due soon too ANNDDDDD I'm going to try and magic £300 from somewhere as I want to get my arm finished ASAP!

Looks a bit shiny in the pic due to being covered in cream while it heals
