The Kirbys are breeding!!!

So that's it for now.
Both machines (The Legend II & Classic III) will have their own dedicated restoration thread when I get round to doing them.

Both machines are fully operational as they are....

The plans are -

Legend II - Strip down, clean, wash bag, polish, replace the brush roll, fit new bulb, fit new style HEPA dust bag and then I'm going to use this machine for jobs I don't want to use my Sentria2 on. Sort of a second daily driver.

Classic III - Strip down, clean, wash bag, new bulb, new belt & a good polish. Going to source a more appropriate colour cable and also look at the motor bearings... it runs well but they sound a little dry and if I'm going to restore it I may as well do it properly. Don't intend to really use this machine once its looking like new

Great find....

Hi Matt, Great finds!! It sounds like you going to start a Kirby breeding farm

I look forward to seeing your restoration threads once they are done. Remember to take lots of pictures.

I also always prefered the original style tools on the legend II (That yours has) rather than when they introduced the G series style attachments on the Legend II in the LII colour.

Seamus... Any other time I'd have them... However the Kirby collection is on the back burner for now.

Easter Sunday tomorrow so that means an all day pub crawl with work people followed by a night out with non work mates.

Car insurance is due soon too ANNDDDDD I'm going to try and magic £300 from somewhere as I want to get my arm finished ASAP!

Looks a bit shiny in the pic due to being covered in cream while it heals

Thanks for the offer though :o)

Awesome Tat work

The rug renovator is from
a Kirby Classic if it's Brown
a Kirby Classic Omega if it's Rosewood

there is a slight color difference, I think the Rosewood has a slight reddish tint to it.

Wow that Classic III will look lovely when all done up and polished

I have also been on a Kirby binge recently, I only like pre G series models and have added a Heritage , 512, 508 and a tradition to my Legend II, Heritage II and 508.

This is the tradition I just finished restoring.

I would love a Classic III

Rug-Renovator,

Lovely Kirby finds there! I'm sure they'll polish up nicely!

The tank is Classic Omega, the little cloth sudsing filter would be red too if the tank was Classic III.the cap, of course, is Classic III. Wonder how it got there?

Back in the day, Kirby instant-suds and carpet shampoo contained alkaline, and KDF-40 (which also, in itself, contained alkaline!), those Rug-Renovator protection pads were to be put under furniture legs (esp. Wooden ones!) To prevent from the dangers of alkaline!

BikerRay, don't forget! The Classic 1CR took a completely different style of speed switch from the Classic Omega! The Omega models came in more than one Brown, my Omega box is a dark rose-wood, whereas the one above is lighter, more like the 1CR. Perhaps the boxes changed when the 1CR bag was reintroduced after the rubbery 'Armor' bag fiasco?

Have fun with your new Kirbys!

-Alex.

Sorry, I wasn't even thinking about the safety switch. I was just going by color, but yes, the Omega and the Classic III would work together but the first Classic would share with the D50 / D80 models although the nozzle would be hanging off in all directions (because of size difference).

Matt, a little tip with washing the bag. Turn it inside and zip it up, wash it on the handwash cycle in your Miele with a colour protect detergent & a low spin speed. Don't use fabric softener on it as it this can cause the dust rention of the material to weaken. Hang them up to dry - don't put them through the dryer.

Haha don't worry Chris they won't be going in the dryer!

Legend will be getting done first. Will give it a good vacuum first and then rinse it by hand to get the bulk of the filth out prior to the washing machine.

I know what your drying habbits are like, Mr ;)

The minute I saw this thread my brain went "FKJSJFSFJHJHDABNKD!! HE'S GOING TO PUT IT IN THE DRYER JKDNAJLDJAJKHFJKSHFBLMSLA!!"
